Become a New Mexico notary public with Notary Rotary, Inc.
Qualifications:
A person applying to be a Notary Public must:
- Be a resident of New Mexico;
- Be at least 18 years of age;
- Be able to read and write the English language;
- Not have plead guilty or nolo contendre to a felony or been convicted of a felony; and
- Not have had a Notary Public commission revoked during the past five years.
Term of commission:
If the application is accepted, the Governor will appoint the applicant as a Notary Public for a term of four (4) years. The applicant cannot act as a Notary Public until he receives his certificate of appointment from this office.
Step 1: Order your official seal stamp and surety bond from Notary Rotary, Inc.
New Mexico notaries public are required to purchase a New Mexico Notary seal stamp, or New Mexico embossing seal, and a $10,000 New Mexico notary bond as part of the application process. The New Mexico notary bond sold by Notary Rotary also includes a voucher for errors and omissions insurance.

Download the application and complete it according to the instructions provided. When you have completed the application check it over for accuracy as any errors or omissions in the application can result in a delay in processing or an outright rejection of the application. When you are confident the application is complete and correct mail it, your surety bond, and a check or money or in the amount of $20.00 made payable to the Secretary of State to the following address:

If the application is accepted, the Governor will appoint you as a notary public for a period of four (4) years. You may not perform notarial acts until you receive your certificate of appointment from the office of the Secretary of State.
