Become an Idaho notary public with Notary Rotary
Qualifications and Appointment tenure:The Secretary of State appoints notaries for terms of six years. Each applicant for appointment must:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Be a resident of or employed in the state of Idaho.
- Be able to read and write the English language.
- Not have been removed from office for misconduct nor convicted of a serious crime within the last ten years.
- Only United States citizens and lawful resident aliens may be appointed as notaries public.
Step 1: Download the Idaho Notary Public Handbook and complete the included Application

The Idaho notary public application is located in the handbook.
Complete the application according to the instructions, you will need to contact a commissioned notary public in your area to witness and notarize your signature on the application. The Find a Notary feature at the following link can be helpful in contacting a notary public, simply enter your home ZIP code and click search for a list of notaries public in your area: Find a Notary
Step 2: Order your supplies from Notary Rotary, Inc.
To order the necessary items to become an Idaho notary public please use the following link to access the online store from Notary Rotary: Notary Supplies
Choose Idaho from the drop down menu and click the “Enter Store” button. Once you enter the store, fill in the required fields with your information such as “official name” and “commission expiration date” and select your products. You will need to order the $10,000 surety bond and the official seal stamp to complete the application process, but you may choose to order any other supplies you need at this time as well. Once you receive your supplies you will be able to complete the application. You will need to stamp your official seal on the application where indicated.
Step 3: Prepare and send application items to the Secretary of State
Gather the following items and prepare to send them to the office of the Secretary of State:
- Your $10,000 notary bond.
- A $30.00 filing fee.
- The completed notary public application.
Review each item and determine that it is accurate and complete and submit the completed application, signed bond and $30.00 filing fee to the address listed below.
