FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

January 1, 2008

In an age where access to information and the delivery of knowledge is reaching new heights, and with an understanding that many students prefer independent study, Notary Rotary is preparing to release our 2008 notary training program for California:

Notary Public 101™, The Functions and Duties of a California Notary Public

Notary Public 101™ is the first of several Notary Rotary initiatives underlining our commitment to quality notary education. The 6-hour California version of this course is:

  • Approved by the state of California
  • Available on-line 24-hours a day, 7-days a week
  • About the single fastest way to get your Proof of Completion certificate
  • Supported by a rigorous practice exam to ensure you have the knowledge to pass the real thing
  • Geared toward the independent learner

Advantages and Disadvantages

Perhaps the two biggest advantages to the independent self-study approach are:
  • that you can study at your own pace, and
  • that you can study in your own place.
Another significant advantage is the cost savings. Many companies are charging in excess of $75 for a live notary class and, even worse, may cancel the class you have registered for if they are unable to fill their seats, forcing you to reschedule.

In our opinion, the biggest disadvantage of self-study courses is that, by nature, they do not enforce the same degree of discipline that a live class has. In other words, upon arriving at a live notary class, you are forced to listen to an instructor for five or six hours - you don't really have a choice unless you want to leave and reschedule. With home or work-based independent study, on the other hand, you are solely responsible for ensuring that you make it through the material.

With that said, if your intention is to register for our on-line notary training course in the hopes of breezing through it - without reading the material and without a solid commitment to learning - then our course is NOT FOR YOU. You will be required to pass our on-line practice exam before we issue your Proof of Completion certificate, and that is extremely difficult for students who are not sincere and committed to learning.

Course Format

Notary Public 101™ is an on-line course that may also include optional, paper-based study materials. Once you have received your Order Number and Course Registration Code, all course content will be delivered on our web site. This means that you will be required to click-through, read and digest a substantial amount of electronic information.

If you have purchased a paper-based supplement to our course, we will provide you with course content in the form of a printed book. Arguably, navigating the book is easier than navigating the 100% electronic course (with the possible exception of having quick references to related topics on the Internet). In either case, your course will culminate with our Internet-based notary public practice exam.

If you would like to get started on the Notary Public 101™ course, you will need to visit our store to purchase the California notary course.

Finally, students interested in attending a live California notary seminar should click the Notary Public 101™ tab at the top of this page. There, you will be able to search for a notary class in your area using the powerful Find a Notary Class feature.
