Posted by Signing_Doc at 7/13/2007 8:54:00 PM | a net 60 from a local mortgage lender? I was contacted by a lender here in town (call them ABC Mortgage). The LO and I agreed on a fee, the docs were emailed, the signing was done, all is well. My usual length of payment from a local vendor is within a week from funding. (I assumed that it was done that way here so I didn't inquire as to the time period for payment). The signing was on the 5th of June with a 3 day RTC so it funded on a Monday the 11th so I figured I would be paid the latest on the 17th of the month. Well, it came and went. I contacted the LO who stated that she did not pay me, it went to accounts payable and it was net 30. I said ok, my error I didn't ask no problem. Well the 5th of July came....and went....and I am not able to contact the LO. I finally contacted the Accounting department of the Notary Service who pays my invoice and was advised that they paid net 60 and that was standard procedure. She asked me what MY standard payment period was and I advised no later than Net 30. She stated that had she known that, they would not have contracted with me because they do not contact with vendors who do not agree to their net 60 payment terms.
So my question is, how many of you have come up against this problem with a 'local' mortgage company (not a ss) and have you accepted their net 60? Is this something new in the industry (again!)
