A moment of weakness, better to have printed and lost then..

to have completed the signing and lost bigger.

Yesterday afternoon while driving home from an non-working appointment I received a call for a signing on Friday morning. Feeling good about myself and going against my locals only rule, I said sure not really remembering the company. They accepted my fee and said a confirmation will be sent shortly and I said I would review and comment. Naturally, I forgot about it until early this morning when I checked my emails. It was from a company that in the past has been in the 60+ days for payment. I hadn't received the dox yet so I quickly sent a conditional acceptance email with a few reasonable conditions; scope of service; pay within 30, dox to be received 2 hour prior, admin fees apply if not paid in full, etc, etc.

I received the dox in the meantime, and forwarded my conditional acceptance to the person who provided the dox. Was told I would receive conditional acceptance shortly (uh huh). Emails were traded back and forth regarding the dox, but still no response. Set a drop dead time 20min prior to signing. No joy. All dressed up and nowhere to go. Almost an hour past appointment time, I received a message indicating that the company can not meet my request. I thanked them and wished them well.

For those of you interested in was the company formerly known as LandAmerica OneStop.

eSignings: May I rant, just for a moment...

It's a good thing that one of the eSign companies (you can figure this one out) lets you set the order in which the documents appear in the signing room.

/begin rant

The problem is that the listing shows ALL the documents that may be used for ANY closing. The first part of the list has identifying titles such as "Electronic Consent - Borrower 1, Electronic Consent - Borrower 2, and so on to borrower 8 and a couple for All Borrowers. The next section is equally specfic for Seller 1-8. Finally, after scrolling thru 150-200 document titles there are named docs, but not for the specific signing.

Now there is a way to sort the documents, however I have a sneaking suspicion that that setting will reset after looking at a document.

Nice feature, terrible execution.

Boy, that'll bring down the median/average days paid...

Signings yesterday (one each) for two of my frequent flyers. Picked up, signed, returned same day. Pick up more from both around noon for this weekend. And both had checks for me for the previous day's signings - whooyooo mama gets her shoes!

But wait there's more, one of them said that they put a little extra in for the signing this weekend so I have to bill more than my usual. But, but... OK!

Y'all have a great weekend!
