Premier Signing Service, Reynoldsburg, OH
Posted by Yoli/CA at 12/23/2011 1:03:00 PM
Called me this morning identifying themselves as Vanguard (phone number checked out for Vanguard). I quote them my fee, which they had "to get approved." She calls me back saying fee is approved and confirmation is on its way. Confirmation says Premier Signing Service. Phone number on second call is for Premier. SC shows a very poor pay record for Premier.

Emailed her back to let her know I was turning signing back and why. Of course, there's been no response.

Notary selling business - what a concept!
Posted by Yoli/CA at 12/16/2011 10:50:00 AM
Had an interesting call last night from the husband of a local notary. Seems she's retiring and they're selling her business. I, of course, wasn't interested but checked it out nonetheless.

Personally, I had not heard of this notary or her business name. She doesn't appear as a member on NotRot. Her website is a 1 pager and by the looks of the coverage area, she may be a small localized signing service or network.

I just found it intriguing that in this day of most of us notaries trying to hang on by our nails, another notary thinks someone would WANT to pay for almost non-existent business. Even if she has a good regular client base, who's to say they'll stay with new owner(s)?

National Loan Closers
Posted by Yoli/CA at 12/6/2011 6:03:00 PM
Received an email from them yesterday offering signing for Wednesday at noon in a town 18 miles from me - 30-40 minute drive. They offered $70.

As instructed, I went to their website and entered my response: I am available for that date and time. However, my edoc fee is $XXX and payable 30 days from date of signing. Edocs must be received at least 3 hours prior to appointment. Please advise if this is acceptable.

Didn't hear back from them. Out of curiosity, though, I just logged on to website and lo and behold, that signing now shows a fee of $85. Maybe, if everyone who is offered the assignment declines due to low fee, they'll get a clue. $70 a signing is just not adequate, let alone profitable.

Firefox issues this morning ...
Posted by Yoli/CA at 10/24/2011 12:54:00 PM
Was it just me or did anyone else have connectivity issues this morning with Firefox?

After several different attempts (including system restore, which didn't help), ended up having to uninstall and install Firefox. Now, it's good as new!

Thank God for my Droid where I was able to keep up with emails and postings!

Angi Notary Signing Services, Rochester, MI
Posted by Yoli/CA at 10/20/2011 12:19:00 PM
While at another signing last night, I received a call from Angi for a signing tonight. I've never worked for them before. She met my fee so I accepted. When I got home, I print confirmation and notice lender company name is NREIS.

Angi seems to have a good reputation for paying within 30 days. From what I read on this forum, NREIS' pay history leaves much to be desired.

Should I be concerned?

Signature Closers, Worthington, OH
Posted by Yoli/CA at 10/6/2011 12:29:00 PM
Just called with an offer of $79 for edocs.

Their reasoning: They are receiving 3000 packages from this 1 source = quantity; they just can't pay my fee of $XXX for edocs as that's more than what their getting.

Vehicle Inspection inquiry - vehicle loans
Posted by Yoli/CA at 9/21/2011 3:22:00 PM
Personally, I have done 1 inspection for a vehicle refi and 1 signing for new car purchase. No problems on either one.

However, I was communicating with a fairly new notary and she mentioned that XYZ had advised her it is illegal for notaries to perform vehicle inspections. I had never heard of that before. I know ... I know ... consider the source.

We're not inspecting for driveability or mechanical soundness. Just checking mileage, VIN and visual condition. So, I don't get it.

All comments welcome. BTW, the other notary wouldn't pose the question herself as she didn't want to get fried. So, hopefully she's a frequent visitor here.

TIA!

Ocean Pacific Notary Service - sad news
Posted by Yoli/CA at 9/16/2011 10:41:00 AM
It is with great sorrow that I report to our notary community that Gina DePriest of Ocean Pacific Notary Service lost her husband, Jim, last Sunday, September 11, 2011. (not to be confused with James, her son who works with her)

Jim had been in the hospital since 9/2nd thinking it was the flu. Not so. He kept getting progressively worse until he succumbed on 9/11. Jim's memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, 9/17/11. And, that may be the hardest day for Gina and family. Please keep them in your prayers and thoughts.

I spoke to Gina today prior to posting this and she said it may take her a few days to get back to any messages. If you wish to contact her, she would prefer email or PM.

Saturday 10:30 am signing in the next town over? Sure!
Posted by Yoli/CA at 9/14/2011 7:32:00 PM
$85 for edocs? Sorry ... my base fee for edocs is $XXX.

That was the call just a few minutes ago. He's checking with escrow to see if they can pay more.

Yeah, right.

E-signings for NYCB ... very simple
Posted by Yoli/CA at 9/10/2011 8:43:00 PM
In a couple of weeks so far, I've done 3 e-signings for NYCB through ServiceLink. These are Gemstone signings. They are VERY user friendly and uncomplicated.

ServiceLink has had no problem meeting my fee and paying it (first one paid in less than 2 weeks; other 2 signings were just done yesterday and today).

In case anyone is interested ... ServiceLink is having webinairs on these signings. First one is scheduled for 9/15th. I mention this because I was contacted this week by a notary with lots of e-sign questions.

Haven't seen NJDiva on here for a while. Hope she's ok. n/m

Universal Notary, Rancho Mirage, CA
Posted by Yoli/CA at 7/31/2011 12:46:00 PM
I worked with Joe several times this past year. I enjoy working with him. No hand-holding, he pays well and quickly.

HOWEVER, just received his email with an Independent Contractor Agreement. There are several items I cannot agree to and will strike through and initial and send him a explanation for each.

Interestingly enough, one of the items reads: "Contractor shall also maintain the status of “Certified Notary Signing Agent” with the National Notary Association." I am certified - just not through NNA. I refuse to deal with NNA.

Hmm, wonder if NNA counseled him in getting ICA from his notaries .....
