Or if it doesn't recognize the name, it would ask if you would like to add it right now, and link your post. I know... I am dreaming, probably would require a good bit of programing, maybe not as easy as it sounds.
It is pretty simple now to add a company, (unless of course it is already in the system as individual notary, which will not let you list the company) but half the posters don't know how or don't bother. |

Posted by JAM/CA at 12/2/2011 3:47:00 PM | I have a friend in Campbell, CA that owns a shop and is looking for a notary to work one day a week for her. It would be Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Responsibilities would be to open and close the shop, handle all notarizations for walk-in customers and sort mail for approximately 18 PO Boxes.
Excellent opportunity for a fairly new notary to gain experience notarizing documents from all walks of life. She also has a wedding chapel and if interested, you can perform weddings for clients that come in with a marriage license from the county.

Posted by JAM/CA at 11/13/2011 12:47:00 PM | Need some mathematicians to help with this scenario. This is a legitimate request. A company in Texas has bought a company in California. The company in Texas needs a notary here in California to notarize one form for each employee, plus have signed and collect a few other forms. They had set aside two days with two shifts for two notaries. The time would be 9 a.m. to noon and the second shift would be 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. They are looking for a fee structure to accomplish this.
My initial question was, "How many employees"? I just received an e-mail stating that there are 2300 employees. Logistically impossible, of course, to accomplish this in 12 hours.
Here in California, we have to list each notarization in our journals, which requires date, time and type of each official act, character of every instrument, signature, how the person was identified (ex: CA, DMV Drivers License number, expiration date). That by itself, can be five minutes. They would have to have groups lined up, one right after the other. They would be willing to put California notarial verbiage on the one document.
First, we know this cannot be accomplished in two days. California sets the fee at $10 per signature, but it could not be priced this way. I'm thinking of an hourly rate, plus I feel they would need at least 10 notaries per shift to accomplish this in a timely manner.
My question for all of you, "What would you charge per shift, how many notaries and how long do you think this would take to accomplish realistically"? Don't want to overprice and don't want to undercut. Could be some good money for the Holidays.

Posted by JAM/CA at 10/19/2011 1:21:00 PM | So, the scenario is, signing last evening at 6:30 p.m., husband is there and the wife shows up 35 minutes later. No apologies and proceeds to eat a sandwich. This is at the loan officers company. Can't really leave, because the husband was there on time and so is the LO. The HUD says $350 for the Notary fee, which is what the borrower is looking at. This woman was extremely rude and inconsiderate and proceeds to read every word of 13 pages of the escrow instructions. I am coming up on 8 years as a loan signer and I begin to wonder how much we must endure. This one almost put me over the top. I would have sacrificed the $xxx to tell her what I thought. "Patience" is my middle name, but come on.
What is the general consensus on waiting time for a borrower to show? |
