So, would I be getting $100 or is the decimal in the wrong place and I would get $1000? Along with cancellation fee means they would send that as well, whether it does or not?
They also want me to send a "copy of your notary license or notary commission" and I'm just not sure why I don't have both on hand.
I am confused on this one. (aside from not generally liking the terms of 'engagement'.) |

Posted by jba/fl at 1/11/2012 1:27:00 PM | I know I have never signed up with them but today some soft spoken girl called and asked if I was going to be on time to my appt. at 5pm. I said sure, if I have the docs thinking I had forgotten something and starting into a slow panic as I was late for my 2pm and it was printing. (Turns out that was for Thurs - whew!)
So I am checking = nothing for 5pm. She calls back, from another number, quietly asking something about if I am going to do the signing. I tell her I have nothing from them....get to email and find nothing at all. I still am not understanding what company she is with - she has marbles in her mouth or something and won't speak up.....so, I check "spam' and there are several confirmations and full sets of docs....for a signing in Geneva (35+ mi. over 2 lane roads) for $70. Now I know I have never taken that one. This time I confidently reply, "H... no, I'm not going to Geneva for $70."
Beware of those who try to confuse you into doing something and giving stress in the meantime. Egads! |

I'm not signing that - call to LO. He has to ask someone - will call right back. Yeah, in 30 mins. I can tell he is only a salesman....no more than.
We keep signing, but the reject stack is larger as the days go by (yes, it felt like days). She tells him I won't/can't explain the figures (no, I can't say how or where they got those numbers), yada, yada, yada....my head is sore from beating it on the edge of the table.
Plowing through 150 pages - Hold Harmless? you have to be kidding me - why should I hold them harmless - what if they don't pay you and everyone else - they have responsibilities ...another call - more discussion of semantics.
All the numbers I'm given don't answer - who cares? My phone is dead - her cell phones are dead - something wrong with the green-orange sky blocking transmissions - nothing works in this dead zone. Finally she relents - lets me use a phone because I have an 866 number....OMG - my ears are bleeding....
But I reach the Asian guy from TC - minor accent I can understand - he is nice, tells quick responses for the entire stack of rejects, which I relay as they are given and then she SIGNS them all. He is her post closer/processor and I'm in love once again. When she begins to stall, I tell her to just sign - just sign I don't want breakfast here.
To be fair: she has been in the loop of a bad broker, who lost paperwork, lost her rate lock, lost her favorite cat. She is just returning some of the hello she has been given. I resemble a victim to her as I am still limping and dragging myself around - I can't jump up and run so I am it. I am getting such a good fee I am rooted to that spot. She knows somehow.
To be safe, the next 1009 I see with "broker" as occupation I will probably be sick and turn it back. Give me an accountant. a lawyer. a teacher.

In Nevada, the nation’s most waterlogged state, 58% of all mortgaged properties were underwater.
The remaining states in the nation’s top five include Arizona (47%), Florida (44%), Michigan (35%) and, most recently, Georgia (30%).
The top five states combined had an average underwater ratio of 41.4%, while the remaining 41 states (data was missing for four) had a ratio of 17.6%.
The average underwater home with just one mortgage was worth just 76% of the amount owed on the mortgage – or $52,000 less than the average mortgage balance of $222,000.
The average underwater home with two mortgages on it was worth 73% of the amount owed – or $84,000 less than the average mortgage balance of $309,000.
More than 15 million homeowners — almost a third of all U.S. borrowers — are prone to getting locked into higher-interest-rate mortgages because their loans equal 80% or more of their home’s value. It’s harder for homeowners with high loan-to-value ratios to qualify for refinancing.
CA is now pushed to #6 on the list, displaced by Georgia. This is why you don't get the 6 figure income that XYZ still promises in its advertising literature. This is why you, as a newbie, get some of the answers you get. This is why a lot of homework should be done BEFORE entering a profession.

Oh, we don't pay but $100 (low end) if it is less than 10 miles. Like, she thinks she knows how far I have to travel? Zip to zip might be less than 10, but me to them may be more. Oh, rush hour - that means I sit in traffic drumming my fingers in extreme aggitation for 30-45 min. for those possible less than 10 miles. What makes them get mileage as a factor in their pricing? Just to see how low we can go?
I have never worked for them in the past - I am not signed up with them either. Told her to keep looking.... |

Did you used to use IE and then switched? How does that work for you? Is there much of a learning curve when you changed? Did everything look different? Act differently?
I am asking as I have been troubleshooting a problem with MeetUp.com, a social site that I use for going out and doing things. They (meetup) suggested that maybe I want to change browsers to see if I still have the problem.
Sometimes I think I understand a lot with computers, others I feel like a mushroom. Today, with this issue, I feel I am being sliced for the saucepan. Therefore, your comments are welcome and needed.
