? re printer and computer and not techy at all
Posted by TMNOTARY/KY at 6/30/2007 11:04:00 PM
I have been thinking about upgrading my computer. I have a Gateway that I have had since 2001 (I know ancient but it has worked fine for me) until recently. It is windows 98. Well I have been looking around at new computers and recently went back to the Gateway because I have really liked the support I have gotten. I talked with a lady today about a Gateway FX530S the OS is Vista but I may have to have it changed to Windows XP because I have a Cannon printer that she said she didn't think was compatible with Vista. My printer is only about 3 1/2 to 4 years old and is working great (knock on wood) Well the computer is app 1600.00. It has 2 GB Ram, 160 GB Hard Drive, cd/dvd burner, keyboard, speakers and mouse, MS Office Basic, 19 in LCD Flat wide screen, 3 year warranty. I didn't really want to spend that much but I really don't know. The printers I have been looking at are HP Laser 3390 for app 600 and Brother HL8050N. I am only looking at printers b/c I figured if I was getting a new computer I might as well get the Vista. Then I could move my current computer and printer into another room and use as a backup (should not have said that one knock on wood again). Oh and another thing for getting a new computer is because my daughter is back from college and my son is back from basic and they can't use their wireless lap tops. My daughter tried connecting her wireless router to my computer and is just bogged my computer down so I made her disconect it and my computer was working again. Sorry for this long post but I have been spending many hours looking and can't make my mind up for fear of choosing the wrong thing. Any suggestions? Thanks much for all your help.

HELP W/ PDF FILE THAT OPENS CORRECTLY BUT PRINTS SCRAMBLED
Posted by TMNOTARY/KY at 6/21/2007 6:19:00 PM
Has anyone ever experienced this situation. Rcvd email with pdf file attached. Opened attachment via Adobe and was able to view the PDF file. Went to print and it printed out real weird looking. It printed with letters that weren't on the screen. I tried printing another PDF doc and it printed correctly. I even printed another word doc and it printed correctly. Any help would be much appreciated. I wait patiently for your response (yell right - who is patient at the end of the month when there are problems) Thanks
