| | Cut fee to stay in practice Posted by Alice/MD at 11/27/2007 3:02:00 PM | | I went 3 weeks before accepting a closing. I allowed myself to take a cut of $25. I get so angry when I here that some are using their job's printing and faxing machine to do closing. This makes them able to work for less. I would never do that to any company. What about our integrity as a notary? |

| | No calls returned for closing @ my fee Posted by Alice/MD at 11/15/2007 12:34:00 PM | I get calls for closing but am told they will call me back if my fee is approved. I wonder if they are finding lower fees?
I am also printing out the name of companies that are slow/no payers and taking the list along with me, so when I get calls, while on the go, I can turn them down or take. I don't have to wait to search later and accept or turn down.

| | How much help should I give away Posted by Alice/MD at 11/9/2007 5:32:00 PM | | I have a peer in an adjoining county who has never done a reverse mortgage. She asked me to help her with her first one. Is this fair? I give her all the calls I get for closing in her county but she take all the calls that she gets in my county. This reverse mortgage that she accepted, and need my help with is in my county. Should I charge her for instructions and time? |

| | Borrower calling for second copy of loan docs after 2 years Posted by Alice Jones at 10/17/2007 11:20:00 AM | | I had a borrower of a loan I closed over 2 years ago , called me , asking me if I had a copy of the loan package I had him sign. I told him I delete all loans docs as soon as they are signed. I told him why. He said he did not understand what he had signed and now his mortgage is up to $5,000 a month. I explained my roll in loan signing process, as an independant contractor. He also said that the loan had been sold many times since signing. I told him that I am not a lawyer and can't offer my advice. He was very polite and understanding. What is your feed-back. |

| | Solicatations aglow Posted by Alice Jones at 10/3/2007 1:25:00 PM | | What's with all these New Signing Agent companies popping up? I turn on my computer and find 5 new companies asking membership fees of $25 and up. They are promising to improve my signing business. Should I start my own Signing Agent business and collect the membership fees instead? Signings are slow here in Western Maryland. |

| | Have all switched to " Blue Notary Seal" Posted by Alice Jones at 9/9/2007 11:20:00 AM | Now that blue ink is mostly required for signing, how about requiring blue notary seal.
Where do you find blue Embossment inker? I don't see Embossment inker in the Rotary supplies offered at all. Any suggestions as to where to look?
