It's not the fee, it's the Service(Link)
Posted by MichiganAl at 9/6/2011 11:30:00 AM
Service Link pays my fee. I gave them a few bucks off, but I didn't fall for the "we have notaries that do this for $50 in your area" b.s. So I don't have a personal issue with the fee, and the few closings I have done for them have been paid in a timely manner.

But my gripe with them is that docs are never ever on time. And I don't mean a few minutes late. Schedule a closing at 9, docs will finally be ready by about 2. Schedule it at 3, docs will be ready by 7. Schedule it at 5, docs will be ready tomorrow. I've probably scheduled 15 closings with them, I think one might have actually closed at the scheduled time. Every other one has been hours late or canceled. Hey, I'm all about customer service and all about being flexible when needed. But this isn't just circumstances arising that require flexibility, this is a way of life for them. It's blows up my day, and it's so rude for the customers to continually have their days screwed up. They of course blame the lender, but it honestly doesn't matter who's to blame.

I just don't know how I can keep working with them when this stuff happens 99% of the time with them. They're like the high school drama queen, it's always something. I keep thinking I hate to get rid of a client that sends me business, but so far I'm not making money from them. I'm losing other closings that I could take when I schedule a time with them, and I'm wasting my day.

Time for a new printer AND a new All-In-One. Suggestions?
Posted by MichiganAl at 8/15/2011 4:06:00 PM
What's the latest and greatest? Must both be HP. Printer needs to be laser, minimum 30-35 pages per minute, dual tray (hopefully a REAL dual tray, not just a 50 page utility tray), reasonably priced, refurb is fine if available. All-In-One needs to have a very good scanner that can handle a loan package quickly.

And go...

Finally! State of New Jersey says NO to online notarization
Posted by MichiganAl at 7/26/2011 2:24:00 PM
From the notary administrators list serv:

Governor Chris Christie • Lt.Governor Kim Guadagno

NOTICE CONCERNING ONLINE NOTARY SERVICES UTILIZING A WEB CAM OR OTHER VIDEO EQUIPMENT

The Division of Revenue requested legal guidance concerning the practice of online notarization services utilizing a webcam or other video in lieu of a personal appearance in front of a valid New Jersey Notary. It has been determined that New Jersey’s statutes do not allow for this type of notarization.
