| | This week is a bust for me Posted by ME/NJ at 1/18/2012 12:09:00 PM | only 4 deals this week, 7 last week plus we are going away this weekend and I will miss out on Friday. Only saving grace last week was a rush of GN work 6 GN jobs last week. Plus side all deals this week were from October 2011.
I hope EOM week is so much better. Started to send out resumes again, can't handle multi bad months anymore I need to maintain a level each month and right now I have a 3K AR and that is bare bones for me.
Funny how media reports put 4 people for each job available in US, well Career Builder lets you know how many people have applied for a position and I see an avg. of 250 or more. |

| | 2 hours to print and 600+ pages later Posted by ME/NJ at 1/13/2012 2:57:00 PM | | I'm off for a purchase deal.. 300 pages each copy insane. Thought my old HP was going to die. |

| | Gotta love the news Posted by ME/NJ at 1/12/2012 3:42:00 PM | Interest rates lowest point ever, apps up home prices may go up 2012.. Foreclosures to flood market 2012 may reach 2009 levels.. How is that going to improve home prices..lol
Better push those apps into UW as quick as they can, once the selling season starts values in my area will drop again. Right now my home is worth what I paid for it ten years ago (ugh) It's come to a point I don't even want to hear or watch the news anymore. Every network puts there own spin on things, here is idea report it and let people have there own opinions (hate spin machines)
Even on Linkedin, TC's spinning the good word it almost looks like us trying to get work. |

| | Vendors listen up - Mail new postal service Posted by ME/NJ at 1/12/2012 1:07:00 PM | What should take two days to get to me now takes a week, Vendors should examine payments made to clients and offer options and reduce mail and check cost.
1. Chase Quick Pay - no fee's at all - If you have chase clear is instead, other banks two days 2. Pay Pal - fee if you request money $3.00 -$5.00 two day turn around when deposited 3. Online Banking, I have BOA and no fee's for online checks (first time use takes a week to send payment after that, next day payment.)
So if you're waiting for payments from anyone, give them an extra week now. Next mail now takes 3 days. |

| | Has anyone been paid by Safir Signings? Posted by ME/NJ at 1/12/2012 11:10:00 AM | | Lady begged to do a deal the other night and the only way I would of done it was PayPal payment same day. They could not do that so I said because of reviews of the company I cannot give the company a line of credit. Why hasn't anyone turn them in to SOS or Banking and Insurance Dept of Maryland? |

| | Tracking cont Posted by ME/NJ at 1/11/2012 11:36:00 AM | Did two deals yesterday and they started in September, I'm starting to see more job postings for reps and closer's plus add Mort Apps are up this month.
Since apps were down last month April maybe a slow month for us unless they can catch up on the log Jam. May was always my slower month and June was tight with cash in the past. |

| | Last 3 deals took 5 months or longer Posted by ME/NJ at 1/5/2012 1:56:00 PM | To come to table, I see a lot of this even when I did TD bank that was a big issue. What happened to the 30 day turn around.lol
Pipeline is clogged, also ran into a deal that was to close on Thanksgiving and when it did not happen the house was re-appraised and it was lower by 5K and reduced the loan and pre paid interest. They went from getting money to owe 900 bucks. YIKES |

| | Just got some bad news Posted by ME/NJ at 12/14/2011 3:52:00 PM | One of my biggest clients will no longer be servicing my area at this time. This is going to put a big hurt on me as they gave me an avg of 6/loans per week since May. This was my nice and easy TD bank loans at a great fee and paid on funding.
Had not had any appointments in a week, thought is was strange rep would not answer emails or take calls. I emailed today and got a reply from the owner saying they will no longer cover my area. Thanks for the heads up or letting me in on it.
Like I said this will hurt a lot, unless the new TC covering TD bank for this area calls me..lol |

| | Going crazy Posted by ME/NJ at 12/7/2011 12:29:00 PM | After months of being busy, this week only 3 deals and all done. Tree is up decorations out and most shopping done. I know it would slow down with the holidays but when your out all the time it just drive's me nuts when email and phone are dead. Last week started the same way but finished off with 10 and a no show.
Plus my AR will be gone within the next two weeks. ugh One bad thing when getting paid quickly, that means little money due after 14 days.
I knew it would slow down by mid month always does, at least we are off to Paris next week. |
|

| | Tonight was different Posted by ME/NJ at 12/2/2011 8:26:00 PM | Had a no show at a bank, my first no show in seven years. Had a company call for a signing tonight but I was booked up already. They asked if my wife could do the signing, said she has not been a notary for the last five years, oh we will update your profile you do that and hope to hear back in another five years.
The biggie, Service Link called me, have not heard from them since 2005 boy they must of been desperate to call me and willing to pay my fee. But already booked up for the night. |
|
| |
| | Next weeks bookings just died Posted by ME/NJ at 12/2/2011 10:28:00 AM | | Nothing booked for next week, only 10 this week. Guess the office parties started early..lol |

| |
| | Another Crazy night.. Posted by ME/NJ at 11/22/2011 3:50:00 PM | Last two days worse I've seen in months.. Just gave up another because doc's are two hours late and have two more appointments with docs already.
Not taking anymore for tomorrow, just do what is scheduled and that is it. |
|
| |
| | I hope next Wednesday holds up Posted by ME/NJ at 11/16/2011 10:06:00 AM | Right now nothing on the books, but since I've started doing this the day before Thanksgiving has always set records for most amount of money in a day. Even last year when I came back in November it was a good day.
I always go away very late that night or early Thanksgiving morning giving up Black Friday (EOM) Looks like the TCs will be last minute next week too.

| | First Serv sent me doc's for signing Posted by ME/NJ at 11/15/2011 5:52:00 PM | | that has been cancelled 3 times in the last two weeks. Wonder who is doing it? Sure not me as far as I know. |
|

| | Today I love lawyers Posted by ME/NJ at 11/15/2011 5:48:00 PM | Two jobs from another site.. took a total of an hour including the drive. Told them my fee, they offer XXX ok you twist my arm..lol
My fee was 35..lol |
|
| |
| | Looks like the week is over for me Posted by ME/NJ at 11/9/2011 1:28:00 PM | Unless last minute deals come up, nothing for mid month close on the books and unless companies are open Friday (Bank Holiday) I just finished my last signing of the week 8-2 this week the two were cancelled.
Feels funny when you're busy and suddenly everything is dead phone, email etc. I know the TC's are still busy get things ready for future dates. I just don't like it because now I have time to address the things I've pushed off..lol |
|
| |
| | Another bad start to the day Posted by ME/NJ at 11/7/2011 9:05:00 AM | Two loans put on hold one from Friday, don't think that will come to table until EOM now. Another out right cancelled and just got a call from a company that said 60 days to pay and I turned them down.
It's only 10am |

| | HP G6 Laptop 399 @ Costco Posted by ME/NJ at 11/6/2011 2:22:00 PM | One of my laptops hard drive crashed last week, went to Costco today and saw this sale and bought two laptops.
Now I need to return the Dell I ordered on Wednesday. |

| | 0-2 so far today with two more to go Posted by ME/NJ at 11/4/2011 12:03:00 PM | Not a good day so far, lets hope I finish off with a 500 avg. Both deals people did not save money with closing cost and cushion for escrow and borrowers were on fixed incomes. Plus they needed to put our money.
My other two deals the people need to put out money, but looks like they are not on fixed incomes. |
|
| |
| | Saw my first ARM loan since 2007 Posted by ME/NJ at 11/3/2011 12:45:00 PM | | I cannot believe anyone would take this type loan ever again. 5/1 the rate was 2.1%, also HELOCs are back again did 10 in the last month of the ten 5 were piggybacks. |
|
| |
| | Local bank told me Posted by ME/NJ at 11/3/2011 12:40:00 PM | They have taken 120 loan applications in the last week. We all know not all 120 will make to table but I think at least 20-30 will within the next 2 months and this is only from the one branch.
This bank has been keeping me busy since June, thank you.. I know SS business just sucks and would be a different story if not for all the bank work in my area. |
|
| |
| | New company called wish I was not busy to take work Posted by ME/NJ at 10/27/2011 11:01:00 PM | Merritt SS in FL called me tonight and I was already on the way to a signing, looks like they have a good reputation wish I could of helped her and hope they do call again.
One of the downfalls of when you're busy, I'm sure she got the signing covered by someone else. |
|
| |
| | Day is over, time to relax Posted by ME/NJ at 10/26/2011 8:44:00 PM | | And have all my docs for tomorrow deals already. |

| |
| | Glad the week is almost over EOM week next Posted by ME/NJ at 10/21/2011 3:06:00 PM | | Good week overall, but a few deals pushed till next week. I hope everyone has a good EOM week, dead Monday but Tuesday-Thursday booked up already. PLEASE LET DOC's come on time.. PLEASEEE |
|
| |
| | What happened to SS business Posted by ME/NJ at 10/21/2011 2:02:00 PM | Currently I am happy with the work I get from 3 great clients, but SS work has dropped off a cliff and I always worry about flow of work and all eggs in one basket thing.
Throw out the low ball offers and I only get maybe 2-3 a week from a SS. |
|

| | Wish NJ Notaries can do what PA Notaries can do Posted by ME/NJ at 10/21/2011 10:07:00 AM | | I guess PA notaries can issue Temp Tags for cars, I get a couple calls a month from PA people asking if I can issue one. This would be a nice source of income if NJ notaries could do this, but the state would never allow this. |
|
| |
| | Something old is something new Posted by ME/NJ at 10/19/2011 1:43:00 PM | Bank safe box business, oh how I love these jobs. The last time I did these was summer 2007 I did most of the safe box audits for BOA for many years they are great gigs if you can get them.
2007 my rate was 30/hour 4 hour min and most jobs were done in two hours, there were a few jobs that did take all day but most part easy money.
This week two gigs for local banks only 1 box in each branch.. Need to work on building this back up. |
|
| |
| | Wish my wife kept her commission and was back from IL Posted by ME/NJ at 10/14/2011 12:02:00 PM | Sure could of used help for tonight and Monday, another Ocean County Notary should be getting a few good jobs tonight and Monday.
Rates back up again, so I guess anything with a lock date up they are pushing it to close. |
|
| |
| | Crazy week you would think it was EOM Posted by ME/NJ at 10/13/2011 11:02:00 AM | | Figured I would be busy Monday for mid month close, but this entire week has been nuts. All loans the rate lock is about to expire boy they push it. Monday and Tuesday are busy next week will see what happens after that, should slow down till EOM. |
|
| |
| | End of this week Invoice 4000 goes out Posted by ME/NJ at 10/11/2011 9:44:00 PM | | Ten years of being a Notary/Signing Agent and with 2 years off |
|
| |
| | I must be getting old Posted by ME/NJ at 10/11/2011 9:41:00 PM | Have two signings next week from what I thought was a new client in NJ, turns out I've worked for them before because both deals the borrowers knew me from years ago from prior deals.
Sure hope they were good deals years ago, I know a lot deals I did during the peak years those loans had to of gone bad. |
|
| |
| | It has been almost a full year since my return Posted by ME/NJ at 10/11/2011 1:38:00 PM | In this past year I have to say it was much better than 2007 when I put away the stamp. During 2007 it was so bad at one point I would be lucky to make 1K a month. 2010-2011 even with all the bad things that have happened and will continue for awhile business has been good with two bad months.
The bulk of my work comes from 3 TC's and I am so glad they keep me busy as SS work has dropped big time over the last couple of months and I would be in the same boat again as 2007 if I counted on SS to provide work. 2011 is not over yet but unless something really bad happens I should finish the year in a good position. 2012 goal is to get back to a six income doing this. |

| | I wondered what happened to Liberty Title Posted by ME/NJ at 10/6/2011 10:42:00 PM | Guess they went the way of Title Serv.

| | BOA shutting down Mortgage Department Posted by ME/NJ at 10/5/2011 11:03:00 AM | No more home loans from BOA, What is Service Stink going to do. Who ever made the deal to buy CW at BOA I hope he is out of a job. Crazy BOA knew of the toxic loans when they bought CW, guess they never figured the market would get as bad as it is.

| | Tim Sratton-update Posted by ME/NJ at 10/4/2011 9:56:00 PM | | Mr. Stratton has paid as promised and I updated SC, I would like to thank folks who PMed me with there comments. |
|
| |
| | Anything new or helpful about Tim Stratton? Posted by ME/NJ at 9/28/2011 3:58:00 PM | | Feel like I'm taking a risk with this one, last minute no docs and reviews are 50/50 and lot of late pay. |
|
| |
| | I now know who is working cheap and taking all Posted by ME/NJ at 9/27/2011 12:38:00 PM | | of my turn down loans, company I posted about late docs called and found out who is taking it. Seems he grabs anything at any price and even post here. Have fun waiting for docs. |
|
| |
| | Tomorrow is clean up day, not today Posted by ME/NJ at 9/26/2011 1:52:00 PM | Only two deals today so far and both are clean up jobs from other notaries in Ocean County. Docs are in for both and heading out in a few. Guess a 200 bucks beats nothing.
Glad TC's have me going the rest of the week, hope I can catch one more today. |
|
| |
| | Bad start to day 0-2 with 3 more today Posted by ME/NJ at 9/23/2011 11:24:00 AM | I hate west coast companies that do not provide support to the east coast in the morning. Cost me two deals this morning.
RM app, client could not reach reps to get answers so no sign.. I hate RM deals, never like them and figured lets get feet wet again. Not jumping in that pool again.
Refi- same deal rep would not answer phone.. sorry we do not want to sign. Even tried sign then ask questions and if not happy you can cancel loan.. nope nope..
3 more to go, hope the day ends better. First no signs for me in a very long time, I can save most loans, not today. |
|
| |
| | Negrettes anyone hear from them Posted by ME/NJ at 9/21/2011 11:22:00 AM | Use to get 2-3 a month from them and 4 months ago they stopped, last week got a email about wanting background check info and no reply back of thank you or anything.
One of two things, business for them is slow or someone under cut my price to them. |
|
| |
| | Global Notary Posted by ME/NJ at 9/19/2011 5:47:00 PM | They called me about an hour ago, I have to say they were up front about everything 150 page package, 40-50 pages of fax backs and needed the signing down within a hour or so and the docs were ready. I asked what the fee was, that is when he told me the above I turned it down without even saying what I wanted. Hope the person who takes it makes good money.
The only fax backs I've done in last 10 months are purchase deals and Rikki. |
|
| |
| | First week nothing scheduled in a very long time Posted by ME/NJ at 9/19/2011 1:07:00 PM | Most of my work is scheduled almost a week ahead of time by a couple of TC's and I have nothing on the books for this week. I think April was the last time I had nothing scheduled. SS work has been dead for two months, TC's have been keeping me going for last 4-5 months.
I hope the foreclosure push in NJ is kill home values again. Rates are at all time low. |
|
| |
| | September not turning out like I wanted Posted by ME/NJ at 9/14/2011 3:13:00 PM | Even with vacation over labor day projected figures for this month maybe off by 30% from the last 4 months. I am seeing more and more for sale signs and business properties available now are unreal.
In the last two months I have seen a ton of small companies fold that have been around for many years this is getting scary. |
|
| |
| | Thanks to NotRot and BGC on profile Posted by ME/NJ at 9/13/2011 9:43:00 PM | | Because of the BGC on profile I did a purchase on the sellers side today 10 pages $ XXX took a total of of 20 minutes travel, print and drop and best part seller paid me. |
|
| |
| | Everyone ready for a new start Posted by ME/NJ at 9/6/2011 9:46:00 AM | I always think of September as a fresh start, summer is over today was my daughters first day of Pre-K final run for the end of the year. Past years September - November was the best months ever.
Hope everyone has a good month, august GN work sure took a nose dive from the prior two months, people want a free service when they call. |
|
| |
| | No clean up work this month Posted by ME/NJ at 8/29/2011 9:03:00 PM | | I know of two TC's going nuts catching up with EOM work. Wonder if tomorrow the calls will come in for clean up work. Plus look forward to last day of the month two on the books already and Friday is filling up already. |
|
| |
| | Referred 4 jobs today to another notary Posted by ME/NJ at 8/26/2011 8:27:00 PM | | The companies never called them, this is the 6th time in the last two weeks I tried to help a good notary get some work and they never got the call. Why ask me if I know someone if you don't plan on calling them. |
|
| |
| | Tomorrow should be a fun day Posted by ME/NJ at 8/25/2011 7:21:00 PM | | 5 closings and while people bugging out because of hurricane hitting NJ coast. At least they are all at bank branches. |
|
| |
| | To good to be true Posted by ME/NJ at 8/24/2011 7:18:00 PM | | I have doc's for all but one loan for Thursday and Friday's deals. Just hope the signings go well. |

| | 3.5 month hot streak comes to a end Posted by ME/NJ at 8/16/2011 10:27:00 AM | Only 3 loans this week compared to 3 loans a day avg for last 3.5 months. TC's said people on vacation this week and next but EOM should be crazy.
August will still be a good month, just weird being busy and now looking for things to do..lol Guess I will hit the air show in Atlantic City tomorrow with nearly half a million friends. |

| | Field Choice -Update Posted by ME/NJ at 8/11/2011 11:26:00 AM | Good news is payment came in less then 30 days, bad news they shorted me by 10.00 dollars I am waiting to hear back why I was shorted and how soon will I get the money.
PS - I refused to sign any contracts with them . |
|

| | Only option (guess not) Posted by ME/NJ at 8/8/2011 1:14:00 PM | High rated SS called said have closing now, the closing is 30-45 minutes away and to print docs's maybe 20-30 minutes (ss so package will be over 120 pages) They give me there rate, I give my lowest fee for service. Next thing is we need approval blah blah ok they are going shopping, they tell me I'm the only option. Looks like they found a cheaper option.
I gave a 3 hour window to arrive at closing to insure everything done right and traffic.
Just walked in from doing two already today, last minute deals hate them. |

| | Change in business Posted by ME/NJ at 7/31/2011 9:40:00 AM | Over the last 3 months I'm getting more work directly from Title companies vs SS for July I did 3 deals with SS and the rest was all TC work. When I started back up in November it was the other way around.
Has this happened to others? It is almost like when I did this full time years ago all my work was from TC only.
The people I have talked with said it's a pain dealing with SS and would rather just deal directly with a trusted signing agent.

| | First day off in a while Posted by ME/NJ at 7/28/2011 2:13:00 PM | | My wife thinks I'm a PITA..lol gotta keep busy. What is going on with 8/1 I would think it was the EOM by my schedule, the whole week is booking up. I wonder with the debt talks people want to close in case rates go up? |
|
| |
| | Do you like e-signings Posted by ME/NJ at 7/28/2011 9:48:00 AM | I avg about one a week from First Serv and it seems to take longer doing a e-signing vs paper deal. I can get a paper deal done in 20-30 mins depending on package size and any questions, e-signing 45-60 minutes.
I get timed out at least twice a signing if not more. |

| | If it can be done FHA rates 3.75 Posted by ME/NJ at 7/22/2011 10:01:00 AM | Did two FHA loans this morning 30 yr fix 3.75% three months ago it was 5.25. I bet if the deals can be pushed they will.
Also looks good for next month if rates hold. |
