located in California. Previously, this company has been excellent and I have worked for them for years. Now, their main number is "disconnected" and messages left on Dawn's number of 949-289-1636 go unanswered. This would appear to be another situation where inept people attempt to run a business and have no qualms about stiffing people whom they have contracted to work for them. I have read previous posts from those who say that notaries should have "common sense" and should just "expect" to lose money. That's just plain stupid - and not how I work. I pay my people even if I do NOT get paid. They did the work - they deserve the pay. If anyone finds fault with honesty, that's just too bad. |

Posted by Ralph Wedertz at 11/8/2007 11:42:00 AM | Here is a message just put out by LandAmerica. They insist on hiring people who have no idea of what they are doing. The gist of the message? Don't take screwed up loan docs to the signing.......Duuuuh? Are these so-called signing agents so stupid that they can't even LOOK at the loan docs? No wonder no one trusts today's so-called "Signing Agents," they drag the whole profession down, and down and down.
Subject: Important Communication to All LandAm Signing Agents Regarding Document Printing
Documents that have not printed correctly should not be taken to a closing for borrower(s) to sign. Prior to leaving for a scheduled appointment, please check the docs that you have printed to ensure that they have all printed properly and that no pages have been cut off. If any documents are cut off, they must be reprinted prior to the appointment.
If you arrive at the closing and find that the docs are not printed correctly, you must contact OneStop Signings immediately at 866-226-8616 Option 5. Our Troubleshooting team can advise if the closing should continue or should be adjourned and rescheduled for a later date.
We will be tracking these issues and counseling agents who do not comply with this policy.

Posted by Ralph Wedertz at 10/27/2007 11:13:00 AM | So things have been busy, which is good. Then today I get a message from TransUnion (here we go again) about how wonderful things are and how they are making improvements. Here is an excerpt from their news blast:
Effective November 1, 2007, TransUnion will be reducing the fee paid to Notaries who receive the documents electronically from either us or the lender. We will now pay $15 per order in accordance with the current industry scale. We are researching the opportunity to leverage buying power across our network of partners for supplies and hope to begin in December.
Maybe next year they will probably ask us to "donate" our printing materials. Sure. More chiseling does not make for happy notaries. I, for one, will NOT accept $15 for printing huge sets of documents and then making two copies. Everyone that I work for pays $25 to $35 for printing - $25 is the "industry standard," not $15 - what planet are they signing on? |

Never heard of this company before, it is owned by a Gail Bryan and they have two listings - one in Conroe, Texas and Spring, Texas. I spoke with this Gail on August 30th, and she said she ws sending a check ASAP. Where have I heard that before......................
This evening when I went to fax them a Past Due Notice, I see their fax number has been disconnected. Wondering if anyone has heard of them before and what your experience (if any) was. |

Posted by Frederick Armayor at 7/17/2007 5:32:00 PM | I received a short notice signing request from NorthStar to complete an assignment in Albuquerque, NM. I was initially concerned because I had not previously heard of them, nor their record for timely payment.
I have over 20 years of real estate signings and closings experience which means I have had my share of DEAD BEAT signing services which come and go (and some are still out there).
My concern about NorthStar Signing Service was misplaced because they paid me *within the month*.
I would not hesitate to accept another signing assignment from them.
