Vermont is mostly an attorney-only state for real estate. That is, I have corresponded with the notary coordinator in the Vermont Secretary of State office and been informed that loan signings between an individual and a big institution require an attorney, but a non-attorney notary may notarize in a transaction between individuals (e.g. a deed between neighbors to resolve a driveway issue). I feel the issue is not clear-cut, and respect those who have come to a different conclusion. I will be happy to assist with all general non-real estate notarizations. I am interested in cryptography, and my main reason for following the Notary Rotary Forum is to follow the emergence of digital signings. I would be happy to discuss providing professional services related to digital signings.

Vermont Driver License contains Middle Initial Only

I just renewed my Vermont Driver License. I asked to have my full middle name added, but the clerk informed me that the VT DMV will only include a middle initial, not a full middle name.

Go to the business filings section of the California Secretary of State's website (https://businessfilings.sos.ca.gov/). Look up corporation numbers C1243331 and C2824925. Click on the corporation names that appear and look at their profit/non-profit status.

Hypothetical: digital certified copies
Posted by Gerry_VT at 7/12/2007 8:37:00 AM
Since the future of electronic signings has been discussed recently, I thought I'd ask a question that I've been wondering about for a while. For those states that allow notaries to make certified copies, do you think it would be legal to make a digital certified copy of a paper document? How about a paper certified copy of a digital document? It could be a fast way to get a somewhat official copy of a document from one side of the country to the other quickly.

I have 15 years of law office experience as a legal secretary and have been a notary for as many years and also have two years of real estate experience. I have performed over 700 signings for various signing agencies. I take pride in being on time for appointments, being professional and courteous to all borrowers. I can offer flexible hours and am generally available on short notice. I cover Rutland, Bennington, Addison, Windham and Windsor counties and parts of Orange county.
