ATM Corp-New Fees for Signing Agents

As of 1 January, 2004 ATM Corp is LOWERING their signing agent fee to $45. If you do business with them, please boycott! This is a insult to our profession!! They are a major Signing & Services Outlet to the Lending Industry. If we let them get away with this, others will follow their lead.

Why are they lowering their rates to $45.00? Are they having financial difficulties? Will you continue to do signings for them?

ATM has been pretty good to me. I've always negotiated fees with them, but will not, and cannot, accept a $45 fee regardless of signing location.

I agree! I to recieved thier little nasty gram and was appauled at thier gaul. Again I agree, I have worked very hard at working smart. If they are aloud to get away with this disregard to the intelligence of the professional notary soon the other major players will follow. It's one thing to be a notary, it's another to be a closer. The reason they went to the borrowers home is to cut cost not to win business. No matter what the rates are there are always going to be borrowers, in fact it is cheaper to close at the borrowers home vs in a rented space. That's what the title companies where doing, moving the money do you blame them. Do you blame them? Nothing wrong with moving the money to your pocket. Bottom line is the banks and the title companies need to understand better that we are closing there loans. I CLOSE LOANS. I CLOSE LOANS FOR BANKS. I CLOSE LOANS FOR TITLE COMPANIES. BORROWERS WANT TO STAY HOME!

This is a competative industry and to be competative you have to stay on top of your game and lok alive to get business and not the business. To any "ROOKIES" that may be reading this it's like the sports draft. You want to come in making money so doyour home work. 45 dollars does not go very far, it's worse than minimum wage.

I certainly could go on and on $45 is just not enough and we have to stand firm. I like national organization and paln to start coming to conventions. Don't be fool do the math. Don't be a puppet be a business person and get paid right for it.

You said it! I was appauled as well when I got their fax. I've been doing closings with them for over a year. They actually consider me number 1 in my county. They are going to get an earful if they dare try to pay me less!

I do this part time, so I guess I have the luxury of being choosy. I've developed my own price schedule...minimum is $75, additional $25 for edocs. Period. Non-negotiable. Companies are slowly realizing that they have to pay for quality...if we all stand firm on prices, we can raise the bar.

I received a call from ATM asking me to do a closing for $45. I said no and about an hour later they called back and asked me how much I would charge to do it. I gave them my price and I got the job.

I can't believe this. I just think its horrible when the borrower is paying anywhere from $150-$300. And they are only wanting to pay the notary $45! We are the ones that do the work!

I had an assignment from a company that paid me $50.00 - they charged the Lender $150.00 - paid $55.00 for the title search; $45.00 for recording; $50.00 to the NSA; which totals $150.00.

One does have to wonder & look at things from the side of the assigning company, at times.

Actually when you look at the HUD, the recording fee is SEPERATE from the closing fee and title insurance. I've never seen them as one big fee on the title company section.

If they charged $150 for closing then you got paid $50 and the company made $100.

Exactly, the fees that I'm refering to are when it specificaly says notary fee. Sometimes the borrower makes a comment about the fee. Like their glad that I'm getting paid good. I wish I was getting all of that.
