Should I cancel, if so how? Newbie Please Help!!!

I just got information that a signing company that I accepted an assignment with is a very slowwww payer, I mean notaries have to call daily after two months to receive payment. They have recently lowered their fee to $45 as well, however, they will be paying me $50 because that's my minimum. I'm new but I don't want to lowball. However, after hearing what several notaries have to say about this cleint, I fell compelled to cancel because I don't want to have to hound this company for two months for a measly $50. Any thoughts as to if I should cancel, or should I fulfill my obligation and make this my first and last with this company? The closing is only 5 miles away from my home and I don't want to come off as not be professional and/or dependable, nor do I want to give newbies a bad name, but I feel that it's not fair either on the signing company's side to have such a negative repor with us signing agents and literally have agent filed civil suits just to get paid. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello,
Since you agreed to do the signing then you should stick to your word. When you send your invoice, be sure to indicate your terms for payment (within 30 days, 60 days, etc). I wouldn't accept another assignment from this company until I receive payment on the outstanding invoice. That is, if you plan on working with them again at all.

You accepted the signing before you became aware of their reputation. That's what boards like this are for, to help everyone know who these companies are and avoid them. I would feel no guilt about cancelling with a company that treats notaries unprofessionally, and who you know beforehand will be be difficult to collect from. Why go thru the grief? Cut your ties with them and hook up with the many reliable companies out there.

Why do a job for free when you know this company will not pay (Sign on the X).
