How should I notarize loan docs for divorced borrowers?

I have been asked to complete a signing for two borrowers with the same last name. I called to set appointment and asked about valid id for borrower and his wife. Borrower called back and said it is his ex-wife on the loan. They have been divorced for two years. I contacted signing company and they said it is okay, that it is standard practice. I know I am only witnessing signatures, but I am very uncomforatable with this situation. I've never seen it before in my many years of work.

Feedback appreciated.

Just Notarize the paperwork just like any other Notarization.

as long as they have proper id, it's not our concern. one of the reasons divorced borrowers may still be involved in real estate is so that one of them can maintain the family home for the children and they need both parties to do so. they may be in an area with rapidly appreciating real estate prices and decided to hold onto the property rather than sell and later down the road split the proceeds. many possible reasons we know nothing about.
