What about a $10 or $15 discount with up-front money?

If you set your minimum price at $65.00 or $70.00, why not a discount for a check with the package? It would save a lot of headaches and costs. Or is this whishfull thinking?

Won't happen, most companies need the loan to fund so they can get paid.

And this is why so many SS'es are in trouble paying their notaries. The way I look at it, and so did my attorney, is that we, the NSA, had a contract with the SS. Period. We performed according to the contracted arrangement, thus the SS is on the hook for payment. It doesn't make any difference when or even if they get paid, the must pay their contractors. Anybody starting or running a business with contractors, needs to have enough cash reserves to cover the low spots in their cash flow when things fall through.

As for receiving the check with the package, I do sometimes. And for those companies that do do that, I do offer a substantial discount since there is no headaches and a lot less maintenance on those accounts. Besides, it's nice to stop at the bank on the way TO the signing to deposit the fee. Smiley

Good Idea!

Orca. Paul is right..! ( Again of course...! ) A Light Bulb went off "Upstairs" in all the cob webs-- but I think you Hit the Nail on the Head.

Next time a $50 S/S calls--instead of turning down the assignment--say "If you Over-night the Docs- Two Copies--and ENCLOSE THE $50 CHECK I'll do it" ( Be sure they include the Return Label for mail-back, and do not require a 50 page Fax Back , and 100 miles Travel etc.)

I Gotta try that-- Put the Ball Right Back in their Lap- Hey?

Re: Good Idea!

I am a Mobile Notary for a new start up. They pay from $50 to $65 depending on how far I must travel. The lines of credit are only 12 pages and my notary stamp only goes on one page, sometime two pages. They pay in about a week. They send the package to the customer and I go to their home, do my thing and drop pre-addressed FedEx in box. I love it. My question to all is: I think I am paid about right, is that correct???????????????

Re: Good Idea!

If you're comfortable with your fees, then it's right. However, depending on travel *time* is what makes the difference in fees for me. I do give price breaks for HELOCs that are simple and fast. Also, if they're edocs, my printing/copying fee is reduced, again because of their smaller size.
