Translations

I am a bilingual (English/Polish) Notary Public and I was wondering if I can certify my own translations -- probably not -- conflict of interest. However, if someone else will present a translation of any language what is required by the party to present to me beside the translation and the original text? Should a translator (interpreter) have some kind of license stating that he is a sworn translator in that particular language? Any response will be helpful. Thank you so much!!! :)

PS Too bad notaryrotary.com did not include Polish language in the Language List... I was forced to choose the closest one - Ukrainian... Oh well...

Can you speak Ukranian? If not, you really shouldn't have it marked as a language in which you're bilingual. All that will happen is you'll look like a liar if somebody in your area ever needs a Ukranian speaking notary. If you can sort of get by speaking Ukranian, then I'd suggest you make sure you know the Ukranian translation of the notary terms that you'll need.

If they don't have the language that you're bilingual in listed, then for their purposes you're not bilingual.

You have a good point. I removed "Ukrainian" and I just put in "Notary Profile Comments" that I am bilingual English/Polish.
