I use WinFax (have been for almost 10 years). If something can be faxed, you can receive it using WinFax. And if the sender is also using WinFax, binary files can be sent as an attachment to the fax.
But, in reality, edocs usually don't come via fax. The are emailed or downloaded from a data warehouse or data file server somewhere. Fax copies are the pits. They just plain look terrible because fax machines don't have great resolution. (When in "fine" mode, transmissions can take forever.)
