wisconsin notary questions

I am looking to become commissioned in Wisconsin.

The application is asking for me to affix my notary stamp to it. It says that it should show name, state of Wisconsin and notary public. What about a commission expiration date?

I thought you had to be commissioned and given an expiration date for your stamp?

am I going to have to go out afterwards and get a new stamp made with the expiration date on it?

Thanks in advance for your answer

you need someone who is already commissioned as notary to notarize your signature for the application.

Hi Irma
Prior to filling out your application you need to purchase the seal or stamp (look under "office supplies" "rubber stamps" or "seals" in your yellow pages.
The seal or stamp may be of any size or shape, but must state only the words "Notary Public" "State of Wisconsin" and your name. You may use initials, or a shortened first name if you wish, but you must use your current last name in full. When ordering your seal or stamp, keep in mind that when you later perform notarial acts, you must always sign your name exactly as set forth on your notarial seal or stamp.

So, the seal or stamp should not have the expiration date on it.

You can probably buy your stamp through this siteSmiley

Here is the website for the Wisconsin Secretary of State's Office - it contains, among other things, a Notary Public Information Brochure to answer your questions. If it doesn't tell you to do it, don't do it! And vice versa. . .
