Recording documents - Appropriate Fees

Has anyone had the pleasure of recieving a request to record Deeds of Trust for lenders? If so, what fees are appropriate to charge for such a request? I am a NSA in the District of Columbia and have received a request from Lender Services Direct.

I was asked to do this by Land America. Their first offer was $20. We agreed on $30.

What's involved with recording documents?

You walk it into the courthouse, usually first thing in the morning. The clerk inspects it and takes your information. The company should send along a check to cover the costs and fed-ex/ups package. The ones I've done also included a self addressed envelope to send the receipt back in the meantime. The whole process only takes a few minutes, providing there isn't a line.

Anonymous,

Could you be alittle more specific about walking into the court house, like where they record marriages/divorces or land stuff?

Just curious.
