Right To Cancel Ooops

Not thinking about Veteran's Day I accidently dated RTC with 11/11/04. Is there any way to correct this?

Any advice is appreciated.

It should have been the 12th, you could line through borrowers initial and you initial then write in correct date.

Always keep a rescission calendar handy. Have the docs been sent back? If they have, good chance you won't get anymore work from whoever it was you got the job from.

"you could line through borrowers initial and you initial then write in correct date"

I would NOT suggest doing this. To change the dates after the signing and after the borrower initialed them could be perceived as fraudulent. Your best bet would be to try to get the borrowers to re-initial the changed date if you haven't already returned the docs. If you have returned them already, cross your fingers and hope that nobody notices, which is a definite possiblity.

I posted the original message. The borrowers did just initial the changed date and I took the RTC back to the escrow office. They said it was fine. Everything should still go through.

sigh of relief.

I thought that would work.

Actually, you told the signing agent he should initial the correction, not to have the borrower initial it.

Good thing it wasn't Full Spectrum Lending

There's one company this would be unacceptable for. Full Spectrum Lending. Absolutely no initials anywhere on the RTC.

Just curious, what's your thinking/reasoning on the need for the SA to initial?

I have done loans for Full Spectrum and they are very strict about their RTC not having any initials on it.

Good thing it wasn't them.
