Help! Is making a correction on DOT backdating?

Hello there, last night everything seemed to make sense to me but now that I am heading to lenders office I am second guessing my self.

On the Dot I stamped my seal but it was running out of ink (self inking )therefore the image was not crisp. Went to the SS for the final "look over" and she re-inked my stamp. I restamped my seal. Problem is that the lender says my 2006 expiration date now looks like 2008 since there was a bit too much ink after re-inking. Now I have to go to Lenders office and add a certificate. My question is this would I put todays date on the certificate?

I am a bit nervous, seems when I am reading threads or studying everything makes sense but now that I have to put theory to practice I am second guessing myself.

I have to leave in 30 minutes hopefully some one can help me. Thank you in advance.

Consider what the certificate is saying. It says that on such and such a date, Joe signer appeared before you. If you replace a certficate due to the smudged stamp and enter the new date, the certificate would not be correct because the signer is not appearing before you on that later date. The certificate should reflect what happened, which is the date that the signer actually appeared before you.

I am not an attorney and cannot give advice. This is just one opinion, and on this issue, you're going to hear more opinions.

Replacing a certificate is not backdating. Use date as it originally was printed.
