Have you ever or would you...

Send someone to close a loan in your place and not tell title? I heard a scary story today from a tc I work with and was just curious if this is not so uncommon.

No...

But, I too have heard of this practice going on in my area. The sad thing was, this person was sending out non-Notaries to do the job, then Notarizing the docs latter w/o the presence of the signer.

Some people will do anything for money.

Re: No...

I believe it's happing in my area also Becca, I call it farming out the signing. We all know certin documents must be SIGNED in the PRESENCE of the notary public.

No, That would be Breech of Contract....also, if the other person was not a notary or a NSA, it would be illegal.

I have a partner I give my over flow to, and I ALWAYS tell title if she is doing the closing. My one title co doesn't care if either of us goes. Iwork with only one company that prefers no one but the assigned notary goes to the closing, and thats ok, too.

I have a business partner as well, but I always make that very clear. It even has our separate names and phone numbers on our web site. Having the (2) two of us really helps out the 24/7 availability.

I have 2 others and always tell them if I may not be able to do the signing myself. There has never been a problem as long as they know in advance.
