My greatest dream will be coming true shortly, in my lifetime.........to see my native country free!! I was born there and have lived here in Miami since I was 16 months old. Castro's not dead!

All the talk of Castro's death is just that...talk. I never really quite understood the Cuban embargo and the "Trading with the enemy" statute that exists here. Is it because of communism or the missle crisis or is it something much deeper? If communism is the case, why are we then trading and enjoy extensive diplomatic ties with China which is (dramatic pause) a Communist country?

I really want understanding from people who lived there or know people who lived there under Castro, not from the US government. I mean, they're keeping me from enjoying Cuban cigars.

Of course the 'Real' Castro is not dead...

This is just a rumor...which occurs frequently over the years. This one was probably spawned from comments published Wednesday from Luis Eduardo Garzón, the leftist mayor of Bogota, Colombia. He said that Castro appeared to be ''very sick'' during their talks in late December.
Now, Cuban American National Foundation executive director Joe called the rumors "wishful thinking."

What I am curious about is, when they really do report Castro's death ( he's been dying for the last 20 years), are we to assume this is the 'real' Castro... or the CIA operative we placed in 1981 ???

Al, the embargo was created by Kennedy after the Cuban missle crisis. anyone that read 13 Days or was alive during that time knows about the Cuban Missle Crisis and how truly close we were to Nuclear War with Russia. What was meant to cripple Castro has done nothing but embolden and empower him. 8 Presidents later, he's still ticking. Had Kennedy listened to Republicans screaming WAR! WAR! WAR! we wouldnt be having this conversation.

There are some things you can blame on Democrats, but a helluva lot more you can blame on the Republicans. For instance, if they had such a mandate and have held congress for 12 years and all 3 branches for the last six, how come they havent passed the biggies like abortion, more tax cuts, flag burning, gay marriage, etc.? They've got the majority for another 90 days or so. Better act fast.

I like Lou Dobbs on CNN, reading books like Armed Madhouse... by Greg Palast and Conservatives Without Conscience by John Dean (very good book). I also read the NY Times, Washington Post, The Nation Magazine, and blogs like Daily Kos. I listen to the Goddess of Radio, Randi Rhodes on Air America Radio. I also watch C-SPAN so that I can see and know what goes on on the House and Senate floor and see what bills are introduced and voted up and down. I also check the House.gov and Senate.gov websites to see when floor votes occur and who voted on what (believe me, it will blow you away how this crop of Republicans put the Con in Congress.)

Now for those that say I have a slant your damn right. I listened to Rush for over a year and I quit because I kept debunking his "facts" and found that he never gave a source for his info. He only sought to discredit the verified ones while talking up the RNC memos and talking points (which I get as well.) In this day and age, there is no reason why you cannot find your own information.
