Need computer help, please! I get a message box that says...

"corrupt files blah, blah, blah, run dskcheck utility", then when I got to "defragment" it says "discheck scheduled to run on volume Presario:C". I have no idea what any of this means, will someone please offer some advice? Thanks and have a good, busy day!

I think you may need to go to My Computer, right-click the C drive and go to properties....... Then, click the 'Tools' tab and click on Error-Checking (or Scandisk). This should go through your files and folders and fix the errors. Be sure, however, to check the boxes to automatically fix the errors.

In addition

to what Korey said.
On some systems chkdsk will not run within windows and instead will be scheduled to run at "boot up" the next time you restart your computer.
So do as Korey suggests the do a restart.
I hope this helps.

HEY KATHY LISTEN UP

Yup, I'm yelling... NOW HEAR THIS

That message can come up for no particular reason or it can come up because your hard drive just got it's Advanced Medical Directive notarized, kissed all it's grandkids and called Hospice...

Not always, but can be...

Moral of the story...

This would be a good day TO BACK UP YOUR DATA.

There really isn't a bad day to have a backup anyway.

Re: Larry & Gary, how do I back up? Not ever done this before!

Copy your important business files to a memory stick or CD so you can have them to put on your new computer if your hard drive dies. I lost all my pictures of my kids I had stored on my hard drive when it died, I was sick. Without some back-up device, which I don't have, using a memory stick plugged into one of your USB ports makes the most sense as you do not have to continually make CD's because the files will be replaced with the updated files each time you drag those files to the memory stick. No memory stick? You can pick one up for around $30 at places like Staples.
