Re: Partnering. From experience, do any of you do this with
another notary maybe 70 miles away and cover all areas inbetween, giving the assignment to whichever of the 2 are closest to the signing location? I thought about it being a good way to cover more counties BUT at this point, it is just a "thought". I wonder how hiring companies feel about this. Any input much appreciated.

Here's what I do. I have trained about four notaries to do this job and when any one of us gets a call that we cannot accept, we always refer one of the other gals to them. This has worked out pretty well. However, if we know it is a "low ball" company, we just tell them we don't have any idea who would do the closing for that price.

Re: Partnering. From experience, do any of you do this with
Here's what I do. I have three "priority" notaries that work for me when I am unavailable. If a call comes in that we cannot accept, I go through my network contacts (they contacted me to provide services on behalf of my network.... I never contact the notaries public directly) and call someone closest to the signing location.
Like MonicaFL, if it is a "low ball" company, I don't even acknowledge them. Now when a company calls me and I can't do the signing personally, I always tell them that I have other notaries available statewide and I will get them motivated. I make sure that the notaries affiliated with my network are (1) actually commissioned notaries (Secretary of State is contacted to verify); (2) the notary public is insured; and (3) he/she has experience. ------------- Of course if the signing request is a closing, the notary needs to be an attorney OR be supervised by an attorney licensed to practice law. ----------- Obviously if the notaries qualify, then they are contacted when needed.

Yes, I do this occassionally, but usually after you've done it once or twice, the companies just call the person closest the next time. It is a great way to share business though.

This is what a network does. We have one in WI that now has all but a few counties covered. We network with each other.

Hi Kathy. I network with a couple of other notaries when we are already booked. We refer back and forth and it works out well for all of us and it helps the person who is calling also. They usually appreciate having a trusted referral. Usually the SS or TC will look up the nearest notary for the job. I think it would be hard to coordinate something like what you were referring to and to know if another person is available with everyones busy schedules. Just my thought. Where in South OC are you? I used to live in San Juan Cap. now in Vista.

Sarah: I am in So. O/C. A good trusted associate and I may
partner together, she is about 75 miles from me so we thought we could offer a wider travel area between the 2 of us.
