Marketing - Step #1 for 2006 - Cheap at $14.50
I have a big list of marketing steps to take this week. I do not feel I can spend a bunch for advertising at the local level but this is a steal and will help me brand myself here in town.
My #1 is so cheap that everyone should consider it. Spend $14.50 and get a magnetic or stick on sign for your car.
PAW is selling them, but he is so shy about pushing this well-hidden secret you'll have to look hard to find them on his site. So I will do it for him-he already got permission to advertise once, so folks should relax about the plug I am making for him. For $14.50 you can't go wrong. In two months, ask me how it's working for me. I just ordered mine.

[Paul, you need to hire me to help you with shameless marketing techniques. I could hardly find that link to order mine. j/k!! ]

I received the magnetic sign and am thinking about getting the stick on one as well to put on my husband's car. Great marketing tool for the price. Now I just have to complete my web site.

**getting the stick on one as well to put on my husband's car.**
I'll betcha those stick ons work better than wedding band tan lines. I'll file that away in case I ever remarry. (:>)
Clarification about the price...
The sign is $10. I ordered two and the shipping is $4.50 on both of them. I do not really know what one would be.

Do these signs really help your business? I am guessing it helps perk up your non-loan signing notary requests. I would be a little worried about wierdos calling . .
As far as general notary work I used to get a ton of calls from being listed on this website but since all the bragging about how good this and other sites have worked for everyone many more people in my area have become listed and I have noticed a sharp decrease in calls from this and other sites. There are just too many to choose from now.

**I would be a little worried about wierdos calling . . **
Anon, Weirdos call anyhow. I got a call last week from a man asking to be added to my database for work. I told him I was not a signing service. He proceeded to tell me how I had my ad wrong on a site then. I thanked him. He ranted at me. I thanked him for his insight and he went on and told me how misleading it was and finally I disagreed that I had not submitted my ad that way and would look into it. He said "you need to do..." and "you need to ......" and, and, and...
Then I asked him if he had anything else to add to the conversation because I was clear he did not like the ad he had run upon. "WELL, huff huff, if you are going to be that way I will never work for YOU." Slammed down the phone.
If you are afraid of marketing you won't get anywhere in this business. Good sites like this one get found just like the yellow pages get found and people use them to advertise.
In two months ask me if it helps. I don't have mine yet. However, my friend tells me this type of marketing works...remind me in March and I will give you an update.

Becareful, people will steal them off your car...
I would get a cling custom made because that would be INSIDE your car.
You can get them for $10-12 each.
I'll get the info later when I'm back in the office.

I've had various magnetic signs on my cars for years. Never had one stolen. Been in tough neighborhoods, mall parking lots, airport parking lots, etc. Again, never had one stolen.

I had them when I was a realtor. Some how it flew off and stuck to the grill on the truck behind me...he wouldn't stop. I am guessing his wife made refrigerator magnets out of it

i have used them also (not anymore) & so have associates and
you might not have had any stolen years ago, but times have changed and people are bolder in todays world and more and more are being taken off cars and some realtors I know spend hundreds and thousands on them and they are taken. They also will leave a spot due to the fading that eventually happens to cars. Forget CA, FL, AZ, CO, etc. who have intense sun. A decal won's do that at all and isn't going to be stolen. And forget it if you are in a state where there is snow and salt used on the roads, get that around it and it can eat paint away because it's help on the car. There are many things to consider with magnets and that's all I'm pointing out.

Re: i have used them also (not anymore) & so have associates
I'm still using them, so it's not 'years ago', but 'for many years'.
Well, I'm in Florida, in the "intense sun". It DOES NOT PROMOTE FADING any more than dirt. And with new paints today, fading is minimized greatly, even to red cars, especially if they are clear coated. It is advisable with any sign, whether magnetic or click-on, to remove it, clean under it and place it in a different location. BTW, cling-ons are not recommended but the company that did the tinting on our car, on the tinted windows (those with a layer of tint affixed to the inside of the window).
I'm not saying the cling decals are bad, they're not. I have a couple myself. However, in some states you have to be very careful when placing decals on windows as often it is a violation to "obstruct the driver's view".
An advantage to magnetic signage (and these signs are not huge) is that they can easily be removed if you are afraid of someone stealing them. And they are extremely portable if you use more than one vehicle.
