Notary Interested in setting up a business

I am interested in setting up my own notary business entity in NJ but I don't know how to go about it. I hear it's always good to set up a business so that if there is a lawsuit against you, & you need to pay anyone, they will not be able to touch your personal money.
Any help would be great.

Go see a tax practitioner that is an Enrolled Agent. He or she will tell you the benefits and the disadvantages. As with state notaries the state tax laws are different.

Just be aware that your notary commission is yours. You are the one commissioned and not the business, so if it is a notary error they can still come after your "personal money"
