Slowest June on Record-Anyone else?

This past June has been the slowest month EVER in my two years of doing signings full time. Anyone else been slow? How do you think the rest of the year looks, month by month?TIA for all the input.

My June was pretty good. I got back a couple TC's that were using a less expensive NSA in my area, but they decided that wasn't working for them. I also do title abstracting when things are slow, and I will work for $50 a current owner search since all I have to do is hang out at the ROD's office. I'm doing 5 of those this afternoon, and a couple inspections. I have also completed the first 2 of the residential real estate appraisal courses, so I should be a certifed trainee by the middle of August.

IMHO, the market is not going to get any better, it is going to get worse. The only people refinancing will be consolodation loans, people coming out of ARMS that were holding out for rates to go down, people with prepay penalties that can now refi, divorces & separations, and people that have finally repaired their credit so these rates are better than what they had. The market for RM's will be going up. The purchase market isn't even that great right now because of rates, if you don't have to move, why do it unless you can afford the higher interest rates. I think next year will be a better year if interest rates come down. But remember, the longer this market stays bad, once rates come down, we will have more work than we will know what to do with. Things got really bad in 1993, and picked up nicely in 1995.

June started out well, I had to turn down signings since I was attending a tax seminar in Reno. After that it all fell apart, unless I was willing to do $50.00 signings. Not quite sure what has happened at the Fed, but my opinion is that we are in for a rough year. Now, "Brother, can you spare a dime?"

Re: My record for the last 7 years...

2000=28
2001=38
2002=35
2003=28
2004=30
2005=22
2006=30
Consistent enough for me to make a decent living.....most months I can afford to buy center cut jumbo.

Re: My record for the last 7 years...

Is this a monthly average for each year or your total number of signings for each year?

Re: Looks like July is starting out just as slow as June!

I pray it picks up. In the mean time I will work on marketing and looking into other avenues. Perhaps I am wrong, but to figure true overhead, I thought you had to consider mileage round trip and cost of gas, other expenses etc...to show a true P &L ???? Plus when considering a fee don't you consider the mileage cost against the current rate round trip?

Or is it that all companies are just lowering their fees?

Not being nosey, but what do you do @ the hospitals?

That gives you enough income to beat signing.

Re: Not being nosey, but what do you do @ the hospitals?

I do Advanced Directives and POA's with an Attorney friend of mine.Dont get me wrong because it does not make as much as signings but it does give me something..which is better than nothing.And once you get to know everyone at the hospitals and retirement homes you start getting all kinds of calls for little things for other people.

It has been about average for us this month in the south central part of the state. We were out over a week in Florida and still reached our average. May was our busiest month ever. Hopefully it will pick up in the second half of the year. Have a great day.
