More advice for Newbies - Message Board vs Chat Boards

I know when you first discover this board you want to jump in feet first, but when you do and start posting all sorts of things and responding to other posts, you give yourselves away. This is a message board and not a chat board! When you post numerous times a day on a variety of subjects you've exposed yourselves! Read, Read, Read, then if you have a specific question, ask. There is a saying which has been attributed to many people, but is oh so true, "Better to keep silent and have people think you are stupid than to open your mouth and remove all doubts". Actually here, if you keep silent you remain anonymous. I know you want to join in the community, but it is like going to a party and meeting new people, if you monopolize the conversation, people will start to ignore you, walk away, etc. Better to just listen especially at first until you know the topic of conversation.

Now, before you get all uptight, yes, I was a newbie once myself and I read and read and read posts before I ever wrote a single one. This board is the best educational tool you will ever find. You can take a class, but even if the instructor is very knowledgeable and experienced they can only relate their experience. Here you get hundreds of experiences, both regarding the docs as well as how to deal with some of the people we come in contact with.
