CT notaries I have a recording question

I am doing a refi for a CT couple (on a CT property) who are on holiday here in FL: It is my understanding that in order for the mtg to record, 2 witnesses are required, and one can be the notary. Can anyone verfy that for me?
Title is denying that requirement, but other posts here on notro say otherwise, and title is NOT in CT.
TIA

Connecticut does require each signature on a mortgage to be witnessed by two witnesses and acknowledged by a notary. The notary may act as one of the witnesses.
