A-1 Signing Services sent a email instead of calling...

I received the strangest email today from A-1 Signing Services. Copy and pasted below:

We have a closing available this afternoon, edocs in Madison at 4:30.
Please respond with your availability.

Thank-you!

No one called me for this appointment. Is THis there normal way of assigning closings? HAs anyone else received a email like this? I remember signing up for there service, but I have never received an assignment from them. Feedback would be appreciated!

I get quite a few this way. The first person that replies

with an acceptable fee gets the job.

I think it is there way of doing less work as calling takes

time but how many people sit in front of their computer waiting for work?

I do not like this new process as it does not work for most of us to get those "calls"...........

Exactly! Plus I thought it was something fradulent. There was no contact info, except for their website. I was skeptical so I came here first, before replying.

Cart before the horse

I get those from several companies and no matter how quickly I respond I've never gotten called for an assignment.

Plus on one of them, they ask you to input your fee on your response, but there's nowhere to say $XXX for a single, $XX for edocs, $XXX for a double, etc. Their original email does not indicate whether it's a single or a double, whether there are faxbacks, etc., so putting in a fee seems like putting the cart before the horse.

But it's a moot point since I've never gotten a call from one of those emails anyway.

As JoJo said, some still do this, but I've seen a decline in

the practice in my area. There was one company that had 'THIS IS NOT SPAM' in the Subject, three emails were sent at once, and the 'fastest on the draw' got the job. Haven't seen it in a while.

One company a while back posted jobs on their website, and expected NSAs to 'check in' to see if there were assignments available. (Personally, I did not have the time or inclination to do this.) Don't know if they're still around/changed their means of contact.

I guess if it works for them, they'll use this procedure, but busy people aren't necessarily glued to their inboxes - and it seems to me the chances of missing such an email request are pretty high, for all parties. Easier to catch one if you've got email on your phone, though.

Cheers!
Susie

I got an e-mail from this same company a few months ago

very smooth signing, no problems with fee OR payment. Mr. Mayfield is very easy to work with and I would welcome more.

One TC that I work for does the e-mail all the time. They called me the very first time to get me set up and its been e-mail from that point on. I always get the assignment no matter if I reply back instantly or hours later. I don't know what they would do if I didn't respond at all. That hasn't happend yet.
