OT-I just had to school a checkout boy about what is
an appropriate conversation to have in front of customers. This kid was talking to the checkout guy in the next lane about what he and his girlfriend did while watching a movie. Not super specific but enough to make me move my ten year old daughter to the other side of me, trying to give him a clue. After he said, then she climbed on top of me, I had to turn around and say could you please not have that conversation in front of my daughter??? He said Oh. I called the manager when I got home. My goodness!

You do irritate you know! If you read Lisa's profile she has completed 1000+ ( notice the plus sign???) - when you have half the professionalism that Lisa has - and the Florida network, then feel free to open your big mouth! Until then do us a big favour, and keep it shut! Sit on your fingers!

For those of you still wondering.
Many Sailors or Sea men were said to have suffered from SRH and one of the side effects was blue boys on boats. The Sea men on ships for lengthy tours would retain a substance that would induce retention headaches.
I think you have a good point, Sylvia.

Obviously math is not your strong point. 1000+ is an
open ended figure: the plus can be any amount over 1000. It is the same as <1000 but I doubt you'd understand that as you don't seem to understand much. Perhaps if you got the sphincter from arond your neck the increased oxygen would help.

As for Becca and her musings, I find her to be charming, spirited and gracious. She is beyond reproach to those that deserve respect through their actions and is unafraid to 'call out' those deserving a tongue-lashing, whether or not to your taste. To say she is generous would be an understatement.

"I don't want him to lose his job over it"...sorry he NEEDS
to lose his job over it. He'll learn that there are things that are appropriate in an open setting and things which are kept 'behind closed doors.' You don't think that if he was working in an office and said those things to a co-worker in a break room, that he would not be disciplined for sexual harassment and possibly fired. Things of that nature are not tolerated by "decent" people and, if this person wants to continue working in a position where he/she is in contact with the public (or fellow workers), he/she had better "nip it in the bud" now. Better to learn this lesson now (when he is probably still depending on mommy and daddy...than later in the future when he is on his own, and open for a lawsuit. Again my opinion (and motor mouth).
Have a great day otherwise. "Doc" Stuart

There used to be a time when someone speaking that way
in front of a lady would ahve had his head bashed in my any of the men standing around. These days it seems that stupidity and rudess are tolerated far more than they should be. I think you did the right thing. After all its your child and as a parent you have the responsiblity to bring up your child in the best environment possible. I would have called the manager over right then and there.
for one, it would emphasize the serious of the offense, the outrage you felt, and (in my opinion) it would have taught your daughter how to handle a similar situation in the future when you are not around. Again, I don't know you and am not judging you however (being very old), I remember that there was a time when "ladies" did not talk about such things in public. However nowadays, when there are foul mouthed youth (both boys AND girls) who have no respect for others least wise themselves, these are the time when you (the corporate you) MUST stand up for yourself and your daughter and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH... "you WILL NOT dis-respect me or my daughter" There are times when we choose to fight and there are time when we choose to 'flight'. In this situation (again not being there), when there were others in the vicinity and you "probably" were in no physical danger, I feel that you should have spoken up. However I do applaud you for calling the manager and expressing your outrage. Now, you need to follow up with a letter, not only to the manager of that store, but with a copy to the corporate office.
THIS is the way that we get back the respect we deserve as human beings. There are times when we say to someone..."no I don't think so"... and there are times when we say "NO, HELL NO, YOU WILL NOT DISRESPECT ME OR MY DAUGHTER!!!!" This is one of those times.
(I'll get off my soap box now. I hope I did not offend you or others....just my humble opinion as a human being and a follower of Y'shua H'masheach!)

I have to jump in on this one .. after all the bickering of course ....
I have young children as well and I would be mad on two levels. 1) Not appropriate in front of children. 2) In general, he is getting paid to do a job, not to chat with friends or co-workers in front of customers. Acceptable, when no one is around and downtime is to be had.
My biggest grip lately is how bad customer service is these days! No "hello", no "how are you", no "thank you, have a nice day". And when you call a company, they answer "xyz company" with a tone in their voice that they oh so love their job (that is being sarcastic). I really think if you are the first impression, the person answering a company line (same goes with us answering our phones) should at least say "Hello, this is xyz company" or even better "Hello, this is xyz company, how may I help you".
I always make a point of being friendly and polite (unless you cross me, then I will just ignore you or make a public fool of you). Personally, I choose the ignoring part the most, it seems to bug people more and they can't get over it! Oh, and of course, if I do choose to get nasty, I will, rest assure, that children are not around!!
I'm tired, I'm off to bed, excuse the spelling if any ...
