Regarding "Check Cashing" establishments

Most require their clerks to be Notaries.

I had a conversation with a individual today that had asked me to preform notary services in the Metropolitan Correctional Center (Federal Jail). Notary access is generally denied and even so the inmates don't even wear wristband identification. All notarizations must be done using a credible witness or not at all.

I gave her a follow up call to find out if she had found an attorney to help her. To my surprise the inmate (her relative) signed the document at his arraignment and she took it to a Check Cashing store and got the POA for Bank of America notarized for $10. According to her it was easy. The notary did not ask for an ID nor did she sign a Notary Journal. This was clearly a major violation of California notary law. After I made that comment she refused to disclose the name of the store.

Well what can you say jimbro. It's darn if you do and darn if you don't. I'm a notary who performs thousands of individual Notarial acts 24/7 some for free others without a travel fee in some highly undesirable situations. When I try to share a few of these many experiences I get crushed by the usual contingent of sheltered mostly Florida based signing agents who look for any reason to publicly assinate my character. What's gained by that? I was warned by others that this would happen and I have learned my lesson. I will not be posting anything on this message board in the future. Harry I will also NOT be renewing my premier membership.

So this is truly a heartfelt goodbye post.

For all of you that I have helped and mentored in their notary career through Notary Rotary I will still return your emails as fatefully as I have in the past.
