Just finished the NC E-Notary Class this morning.
I really don't know how this will be helpful in anyway. There are about 5 different service providers, but the one that was in the class today was basically useless. The only documents that can be notarized through e-notarization are documents they provide on their website, otherwise the docs are not considered secure enough to be signed and notarized. I think this process still has a very long way to go.

Re: Where did you take the training, Lisa?
Was it through NC itself or through another entity? Curious on where to get this training. Thanks..

NC SOS set up the classes at Durham Technical College.

Not according to Express Notary. He stated the beginning of '08 will be the start of paperless transactions, so we all need to take lower fees now.

Hmmm....how long will it take them to get the docs to Settleware, to upload to their server, so I can log on, have the borrower sign and then notarize them. As I said, so far, the only docs being accepted for e-notarization in NC are docs provided by the e-notary provider.

On a slightly different electronic ID topic, did anyone see
the news segment last night on national news where cellphones are being considered as a means of identifying the individual for boarding aircraft, might there be a technological tie-in to other types of ID as in loans? Think what happened to the Social Security Number: I'm old enough to have a SSN card that states "Not to be Used for Identification" prominently on the front fo the card!
