weddings

ok, i am completely new at this, just commissioned today. can ca notaries perform weddings? is this a seperate license? thank you.

read msg 33325...DON'T DO ANY Signings until you know your handbook forwards and backwards...and can answer questions such as the one you asked....without asking...JMHO

In case you haven't answered this already...per CA notary handbook 2006 on page 18, it talks about "Confidental Marriage Licenses" (whatever the heck THAT is!)...but it goes on to state "...in order for a Notary Public to perform a marriage, he/she must be one of the persons authorized under Family Code Sections 400-402, e.g. Priest, Minister or Rabbi..." It also talks about a separate course you must take which is given by the county clerk. Hope that answers your question.
