Gas prices up 30 cents in one week and going up again

Gas prices were 240/g last week and now its 2.79/g down the Jersey shore. Northern NJ is about 10-15 cents more. Gas prices will go up again this weekend and should hit over 3 bucks for reg and 3.40-3.50 for prem.

That is a 12 dollar increase per tank full for me. I hate it when it takes 50-60 bucks to fill the tank, I can live with 40..lol

Paper cost have gone through the roof in the past year or so (staples went from 4.20 for legal to almost 8 bucks)

Yeah the 45-50 dollar signings and 10 edoc fees should cover the cost.

Reg goes for $3.25 to $3.39 here, Costco is $3.17

and these momo TC's and SS's think we should cut our prices! Yeah right!

Our costs up up up, and offered fees down down down

I will not lower my fees just because some title company or signing agency isn't getting the volume they used to and want to keep more of the fee they're paid by the lender instead of paying the notary a fair portion of it. I am just as much a business as they are and entitled to earn a fair and reasonable income after deduction of the myriad expenses from this work.
As far as legal paper, our Staples and Office Max don't even carry it any longer, and they're the only office supply stores in town. I either order it online from someplace like Office Depot (usually I can find a discount coupon on my favorite fatwallet.com website in the Hot Deals section) or I stop by our local Wal-Mart and pick up several reams at a time at $6 a ream.

Re: Heating oil prices shot up 20 cents/gal here

I can walk or just limit my driving, but when it's cold there's no choice but to put on the heat...I'm more worried about home heating oil prices than gas prices.

Although, I do remember the first time it took $40 to fill my little 4-cylinder, I almost cried.

Re: I am SO glad we finally sold in CT

Gas in Michigan upto $3.15 today per gallon last week hovering around $2.90's and now today up to that! Already getting cold....have to run the heat at 69-70 degress for the past week. I hope that heat is not up 40% we will have to run the house on about 65 this winter and shut off rooms that we dont use. My little one will have to bundle up just to be in the house!

Propane... just had to purchase

I just had to fill my propane tank, it is the same price as last year... $2.25 a gallon... but I wont be using the central heat as much this year, as I am now not working in the home office, but I have a office outside my home... but even at $2.25 a gallon, that is high, compared to couple years back.

Fortunately we have domestic sources of Probpane so

the pricing is not as volatile nor at the whim of greedy countries who hate us anyway. I just may have to buy a setup for one of my cars. With a dollar difference it would certainly make it worth while: the last time I checked the conversion is about $300 plus istallation.

Propane conversions...

If I thought my Ford Mustang GT would run the same I would make the change... but what gets me is the price of diesel fuel for my Ford F250 4x4... we have "regular" here for $2.79 up from $2.46 just last week. Diesel has been above $3.00 for well over a month now... I use plus in the GT and it is usually about .10 higher than "regular".

I have a friend that told me that his father works for Exxon... and for us to expect gas to be close to $4.00 by January.

I would not be surprised to see the gas prices go that high

As far a propane goes there might be a small reduction in acceleration with your mustang since propane has reduced relative heat so consequently less BTUh than gasoline but there are greater benefits than just acceleration: propane and butane burn so much cleaner than gasoline that there are fewer deposits in your engine and its oil and the emissions are greatly reduced also as lagniappe. Typically engines last twice to three times as long running on propane. My personal problem with propane is its availability and that not everywhere I go can I just pull up and get a tankful. I too have a diesel truck (GMC 3500) that gets 11 mpg regardless of how I use it and it stays largely parked these days unless I need it to haul something. The last time I checked on getting a propane conversion I was looking at a naturally aspirated engine but my Chrysler has fuel injection so I have no idea how easy a conversion would be.

Re: I would not be surprised to see the gas prices go that high

I dont know anything about the BTUh's... but I do know that one of my neighbors growing up was the delivery man for the local propane company, he converted his truck to propane... and he lost no power (but he had none anyway was just a 6 cyl)... but I know that in some of the Dallas City vehicles they have converted them, out here in East Texas I am sure I could get a fill up where I wanted, but between here and Dallas I am not so sure if I have seen places to get tanks filled. but I do know that I dont have much trunk space in the GT to put the storage tank for the propane, there is already a sub woofer in there that is as big as a 2 year old (factory installed), which leaves little room for much else.

My truck gets 16 in town and will get 22 or so on the highway if not pulling... but out here, I have to have the truck, not everywhere I need to go can I go in a 3 inch off the ground sports car!!! LOL So if you find out about the injection engine, let me know, I might check into it... not sure that will have place close by that can make the change, but could prolly find one either in Dallas or Shreveport.

Thanks Charles...

I guess more than anything its the prinicpal of the thing

I remember going on a date and putting a buck in the tank, heck I could get a movie and a burger afterwards for the cost of a couple of gallons today. I suspect that one of the things we are not being told is that the dollar is just worth less on the world market and our incomes have not kept up. I was afraid of just this type of a thing when we went off the silver and gold standard. I am not sure what the price of silver is today but I bet you can still buy a gallon of gas pretty much for the equivalent price in silver as it was 40 years ago.

Re: heating costs

We use wood to warm our home! We work hard to cut from our property, split, stack the wood. It is worth it for us in Ohio! It is currently 45 outside and a nice toasty 73 in the house! It is nice to see a gas bill for $ 30.00 in the dead of winter!

Wood is good, it warms you twice,

once when you chop it and once when you burn it. I like hydronic heat (I don't like scorched air) and I have a boiler that is muti-fuel: oil and wood. I have a lot of wood and lot of it comes down each year so I usually have plenty for the winter. Its a very good cardio workout too.

There's hauling it in & carrying the ashes out, too.
