I have had good luck with refurbishedequipment and I just ran across a place that specializes in refurbished electronics. They are having a sale on GPS systems up to 80% less than retain.

The difference between refurb and new

Besides the discount...

New products have been inpsected by a QA inspector. The main skill required to become a QA inspector is the ability to stick that little sticker on the item.

Refurbed products... which often enough were returned perfect for whatever reason, have been on the bench of a real technician that actually understands the gizmo in front of him.

I have been buying refurbed stuff for years, except for cars... with at least as good luck as I have with new. Now I'm talking about FACTORY refurbed with full warranty...

Yeah, but which one?

I don't know diddly about what features are important and what to look for. Geez, there's one that they say listed at $2000 that's selling for $189. It's waterproof! If you drive your car into a lake, you can navigate your way back out.
