I'm buying one today.
I'd love to get out of this house and move on to a better one.

Buried good ole St. Joe in the back yard, and sold my house in eight days.

Re: Divine intervention for the housing market?

I was digging in my front flower bed of my new house and found a small white statue. I thought it looked like St. Francis, but maybe it was St. Joe. This house had been on the market longer than the owner had hoped, but I truly believe it was waiting for me. It has everything I "said" I wanted in a home, and I got it for a great value. Closed the loan long distance by mail (without a mobile notary) and am living happily ever after. Laugh all you want, but when you thoughtfully send your energy into the universe, wonderful things can happen. If St. Joe is the vehicle, fine. Whatever works!

I hope this doesn't offend any Jehovah Witnesses out there. But, when I sold my grandmothers house a few years ago, a young newly married couple wanted to buy it so badly. I did some extra things for them so they were able to get into it (meaning doing some of the little repairs to get it up to code). They were thrilled and so was I. Only to find out that they are Jehovah Witness. I called my devout Catholic cousin (like my grandmother) and told him. He came over before we closed on it and buried St. Joseph in the yard. It is still there and they have no idea. Kind of funny.

Did she dip him in holy water before she buried him?

This has been going on in this part of NY for about 20 years.... St. Joe is usually buried upside down in a corner of the back yard, facing the house. I have a friend who sold his house two weeks after doing this; whether the house would have sold that quickly anyway is open to debate, but whatever floats your boat....

This has been going on in New Orleans for years as well. When we were trying to sell our house to move to Tennessee all my friends were telling me about burying St. Joseph in the front flower bed but before I got a chance to do it my real estate agent went and got a statue and buried it in the yard herself. Made sure it was ok with me first. I never asked her if she did that for all her listings or if we were just special. LOL.
