A question for notaries that work for CMD out of California

I was wondering if you would share how much you charge CMD for their Countrywide loans? I took a signing from them on short notice and charged my standard fee but did not know that I would have to fax back so many pages, then copy an extra 30-40 pages on top of the printing of 100+ pages and then split the package all the while wasting time waiting for them to call me and approve me sending the package, plus 4 pages of ntoary instructions. They are a great company but I tend to consider whether or not it's worth it and I was wondering if I was charging the same as everyone else or if I underquoted. Especially since I see on the Settlement stmt. that they are getting paid $250 a loan.

They play games with you. They keep asking you to fax more documents until you have sent them the whole package. They also claim that certain dates are not clear then want you to return to the borrower and get them to correct them. It all a matter of them building a case so they have an excuse not to pay you. Getting paid is the next fight you'll have with these clowns.

Don't agree with your characterization, Cowboy...

i've worked w/ CMD for a few years now and have never had problems collecting full payment. They pay within 30 days hassle free. Nobody likes faxbacks and if they're too much extra work, decline the job or hike up your fee. i also believe many SS ask for faxbacks from their new NSA's until they feel confident enough in the NSA's work to send off a loan pkg w/out double checking their work. Their reputation is on the line. Can't fault them for that.
just a thought...

Everybody HATES faxbacks! Including the SS's. It's just another step that they must do... but not get paid for. Blame the LENDER!!! They are the ones requiring it. The SS would like to set the appointment with the notary, and forget about it. Say: Title will contact you soon with all the info...send me an invoice sometime. Have a nice day!

Disagree on CWs...

Do 'em for many co's.... most don't require faxbacks or just a page or 2... HUD & invoice, but I recently had one that wanted 42 pages faxed back to a very pokey fax machine.

Re: Disagree on CWs...

I could be wrong, but I get the impression that it is just certain division of CW that require the mega fax-backs.

So right, Les!!!

Fax back is extra work, but necessary for the sake an $$'s livelihood. It's a $10K/mo. account gone versus a sorry "I screw up". Fax back is my only friend now. I do require a 10 pages fax back (disclose prior to sending confirmation) with approval to ship from the lender. I know it's unpleasant, but wish I'd done from the beginning.
