Funny thing happened to me on the way to a signing.
So I finished up a signing that ran a little long (another story). No problem I still have 15 minutes to get to the next signing. I get near the place, my phone rings and it's for another signing. I stop in front of the mort/brokers home office and finish up the call, just as I'm hanging up I let the door go...humm is that my car running - why yes it is.
Ok, well I'll just open the door, turn off the car, grab my keys and off I go...Not on this evening the door is LOCKED!!! Ooops. So I go in the house and tell my story, do I get a bone - no he's laughing hysterically. We go outside and nothin' doing, the cars running, he's laughing, I may be a tad bit embarrassed.
I call the tow company "it'll be 45 min to an hour" - AN HOUR!!! Naturally, the borrower comes and we proceed with the signing (what else are we going to do - laugh at me), tow truck guy calls and asks for directions - I'm in the middle of working here, I gave you the address. Yes, he was in a rush as well and left his notebook in the truck. He had my phone number, but was driving on 14th STREET and doesn't see my car, I'm on 14th AVE. The signing finished without a hitch, I went outside and tow truck guy was working on my car.
The mort guy has a couple other signings planned for the week and we schedule right there.
All's well that ends well.

Yep, 1965, in a parking garage in St. Louis, 5th floor, baby in back not able to do anything except smile. Had to run to first floor, not a busy garage, explain, run back up and freak out the whole time.

I am always hollering at my husband because he has a habit of leaving the SUV unlocked when he is parked. So when I am with him I started to lock the door as I am getting out. Well, a couple of years ago we were heading for Vegas. My husband pulled up in front of the airport terminal to drop me and the bags off and was going to go park. Well, he got out and got the bags out, I got out and automatically locked the doors. Oops - they key was still in the ignition. Had to call locksmith to come and open the door. Just made our flight on time.

Re: spare key for a car.
When my kids started to drive, I knew they would one day lock the keys in the car. So, I took a spare key drilled the hole out a bit. I took off the front plate, put the key behind it and using a slightly longer bolt, put the bolt thru the plate and key into the mount. No one will steal a front plate and the key wouldn't shake loose like the magnetic box do.
another trick, different subject. With credit cards having pin #, if you have several pins and can't remember which goes to which try this.
Pick a number you can't forget, and nobody else would know or guess. i.e. I use the 3 digit address where I grew up. Add this to your pin #. write the new number down on the back of the card. Any time you need to , just subtract the secret number from the written number - voila !! the true pin #.

Spare remote
If you lock your keys in your car and you have a remote that unlocks your doors and trunk, AND you have a spare remote at home, call your home on your cell and have your someone push the button to unlock the door. The signal from the remote at home will be transmitted through the cell phone and the doors will unlock. Of course if the vehicle is running it won't work, although on some cars the trunk will. You'd also have to have a fold down rear seat and the ability to crawl in and unlock the door. Ask me how I know.....

Re: Spare remote
Good question Sylvia, better question is: how can you get them to answer the phone? Biting the remote long enough might get the right button pushed.LOL
