Are you getting requests to upload your DL to the companies

websites when you sign up in their databases? I've had 3 this week. I flat out will not upload my DL onto the internet, talk about an opportunity for identity theft. Is anyone doing this?

Re: DON'T EVER N/M

They claim they need it to verify my commission. I asked them how my DL would verify that I was a commissioned notary, and why a copy of my commission with bond and E&O insurance wasn't sufficient proof that I was a "valid" notary. I know that things are tuff right now in NSAland, but please don't upload your DL onto the internet for any reason. If providing your commission certificate isn't enough for the company to prove your a "valid" notary then move on and sign up with another company.

Don't do it. IMO...

this is just a way for them to practise discrimination... maybe you're too young, old, or funny-looking. Verify that you're a notary? Horsefeathers. And dumb answer, too. Commission does that...sheesh.

I was told this was because they are going to start showing your picture to the clients, so they know who to expect is arriving at their home..

And you don't think that's ridiculous?

RM LOs often go to the B's home... think they send their picture first? Their DL? C'mon.

Re: Don't do it. Reality Check.

That's one I haven't heard before. I have sent a photo copy of my DL with the number blanked out.

But lets do a reality check. All I personally need on a person is their name and a mailing address (even one that the person has not lived at in quite some time) and I can find out all your numbers, how much you owe, how much you make and even how much is in your savings and checking accounts in a very short time ..... Nothing is secure. How do you think all those credit card offers come to you in the mail? You can stop identity theft in its tracks by putting a hold on your credit with the big three. Call them and they will tell you how to do it. But think about all the times you show your driver's license during the course of a week. Clerks when you use your credit card or write checks (anyone still do that?) Sometimes write down the number. ....

Now that's a novel idea, start running credit checks

on the SS's & TC's before accepting work from them to see if their credit score warrants extending them credit. Wouldn't they just blow a gasket if they were asked to sign to have a credit check done on their company.
