Re: Service Link, has anyone done work for them lately???
I did one for them in December. Paid well and promptly upon billing.
Actually, after all I've read, I was pleasantly surprised by my experience. I did have fax backs, but the situation being as it was, it wasn't an inconvenience for me. (Sometimes it would have been.) Everyone I worked with was very friendly and responsive. I did not sign up with them; they found me.

They may pay ok, but beware that when they say fax back, they are speaking of around 40 pages of what is their post closing package and they don't want to pay extra for it. Also their docs are a mess and you will need to hunt for your instructions while possibly printing 20+ pages of their office instructions. So just beware.

That has NOT been my experience
I've only had to fax back SOME of the CountryWide loans and the directions were right up front in their package (HUD, Affs, etc). When you are speaking of the 20+ pages of office instructions are you speaking of CountryWide's 23 pages of closing instructions (hint, unless there is a stip on page 23, it doesn't concern us)

Re: That has NOT been my experience
I do not mean to say they were impossible to work with. They were very nice, but when I called about the fax back list of nearly 40 pages, they did not want to pay extra. I can understand and have no problem with a few pages to fax back, but for a list that long, then we talk money. And I just felt that the package should have been sent without the closing instructions or a NOTE tell me to not print pages 20-43. The way I do it is, what docs that I get, the borrower gets the same. I feel that when they include their closing instructions, then they are wanting me to put their pages in Post Closing Order. It may have been a Oops on their part to send it to me in such a disorganized mess; that is not to say that is how all their jobs have or will be, its just a note for other Notaries to be aware of.

Re: That has NOT been my experience
I used to do 20-25 loans a month.. now nothing. I called and they said that Countrywide is required to have an Attorney in New York... They can be a pain but the work was consistant and they pd on time.

Many times they do not require fax back at all
I know their instructions SAY that they want fax backs, period, as though they want it on every loan. But if you call and ask them, they will likely tell you (as they told me) that they only care about fax backs with respect to particular lenders (like Countrywide) or particular kinds of loans (like investment property). 90% of the loans I close for them I fax back nothing.

My experience with them has been that they want the world from YOU and you have to BEG for your money. I had to threaten to call the lender and the borrowers to get paid.

The are one of my favorites to work for! Very professional! Hardly ever a last minute closing but appointments made in advance instead.

I agree Susan and very rarely are you waiting on docs at the last minute.

Re: Service Link, has anyone done work for them lately???
I like them. OK package size ( I do not make a copy of the closing instructions for the borrower, unless they sign them). I wish they would adopt ATM's pay system (every 2 weeks automatic, no invoicing). I have an unlimited phone plan so I don't even care about the 40+ pages of fax backs. They pay OK. but it's to bad that you have to negotiate to get it.

Re: Service Link, has anyone done work for them lately???
Hi I have worked with ServiceLink for more than five years and they have been great except lately they want me to reduce my price to become a preferred vendor. Has anyone experienced that? I was getting $65 for overnight docs and $90 for e-mail docs. I do this full time and it is hard to make a living at those prices and yet they want me to reduce e-mail docs to $85 and $45 for loan mod closings. Help! Is anyone else a "preferred providor" and what are you getting?

...they have been great except lately ...
and yet 10 years ago they paid $125 for overnight docs with additional fee for after 5:00 p.m. and weekends. The word 'great' has many different meanings in our little 'signing agent' world.

Re: Service Link, has anyone done work for them lately???
I have worked for them for years. They always pay my fee and pay my monthly invoice promptly. Fax backs are usually only for Countrywide or for properties that have no RTC. I have a high speed fax, so no problem.
