Looks like old-man winter is taking a break here now...

Someone in the neighborhood had a fire, lost phone and DSL service, which is communication to the outside world, and woke up feeling like I had been kicked by a horse in the ribs....think lugging heavy plants did that to me. Lost almost no plantings - the wind must have been doing the great favor here. Even my hibiscus and those of my neighbor are blooming today (oops, yesterday now) and further survey of the area shows remarkable resilience to the cold we had for over 10 hours.

I know many are snowed under, blown to bits, deluged w/rain, so I invite you all to visit our great wacky state and enjoy respite from some of your weather beatings. I really do wish calmer weather for us all...this post was not meant as a brag. We will get more cold, we are not safe till after 2/15 or so. But I will always remember my Nana complaining about Feb. being the worst time - gray, gloomy, etc. (Seattle)
