24 replies | Signing Central Fake Ratings . . . You Asked For It . . . | By PegiT_MN on 6/24/18 9:40pm
. . . and now you've gotten it! I have been harping about this for months. Carrie Rivera harped about it too . . . but no one wanted to listen about all the fake ratings in Signing Central . . . and now look where we are today.
Signing Central has been littered with fake reviews from members of this forum for years. Many members here have asked kindly that reviews are given only if you have worked for a company, and not based on your hatred for a company owner, idle gossip, or the mere fact that they offered a fee lower than you are willing to work for.
So now that owners of Signing Services are finally starting to come forward and try to defend themselves and have fake reviews removed from Signing Central . . . certain members here on the forum are outraged that they have the audacity to show up on our lawn and speak to us in such a manner . . . or speak to us at all for that matter.
And don't get me started on all the discussions and accusations lately about Signing Services going into Signing Central and self rating themselves when those very same notaries have been going into Signing Central for years leaving horrid ratings and reviews for companies they have never even worked for.
This forum is only as good as the members that contribute to it. Running to Harry and crying and whining does no good for anyone. Harry has had nothing to do with what has been going on this weekend. All of the recent events with these signing company owners coming on to the forum to defend themselves is all about the fake reviews and accusations against them that members of this forum are posting. Some of the comments may be true, but we are finding out that many of them are not.
Self rating by a company is bad, but fake rating by a fellow NSA is worse. Please think wisely about what you post on the forum, as well as your ratings in Signing Central, as it affects every one of your fellow peers.

Drove to Valencia Thursday...2 1/2 hour drive one way. Interesting file. AIF signing for husband and wife that are out of the country. The verbiage for the husband read....John Doe, by Mary Smith, as Attorney In Fact, Non-Borrower. Yes, they wanted the AIF to sign with the "Non-Borrower" on the end. And, initial with that on the end. They had to initial the Note, DOT, Riders.....22 pages to initial for both husband and wife. AIF was a real trooper.
Yesterday, took a little drive to Riverside, hour one way, to sign a first time buyer. First, Second, and Third loans. 300 pages X two. Enough said.
All this for direct clients that pay well and quickly. They are just a joy to work for. I enjoy working for the two SS that I work for.....but, building direct business is so much more profitable. Market, Market, Market!

.... I think Notary Rotary could be a GIANT in the Industry if they deliver on their Company Mission Statement advertise on their FB page: "Company Overview Nationwide notary organization providing a wide range of products and services to notaries public and notary signing agents." Does anyone see the words Title Company, Escrow Service, Mortgage Broker... how bout, Signing Services? No. Neither do I. NR is a working website for Notaries by Notaries... and we pay the fee for this meeting room. I can hear the thunder of dozens of NSA's running for the door after today's' despicable evisceration of NSA on NSA all over a single SS causing dissension among us to her advantage while tinkering with our valuable rating system to optimize her own Company's uneven ratings. Which BTW, couldn't happen, Sir, if you would allow the Notary posting the review to also be named - and let Community judge the review. Pamela Ezra, CA

... I used to be a 'lurker' just scrolling thru to see if any pertinent info for MSA's would show up. Then I began posting in 2013 and got "killed" by one or two of you who are posting for this Garland thread because I openly and correctly referred to my certifying membership organization by its proper name... NNA.
My next 'bad' post following year was regarding my refusal to sign any contracts binding me and my future income to a non-credentialed, unlicensed, 3rd party Signing Service who are exempt from lawsuits. Boy did someone here make herself Judge, Jury and Executioner on that one too - saying I had just killed my business and making personal comments. Well, she was wrong then and she is wrong now. This site, that I'm paying to be on, is for Notaries Public and Notary Signing Agents. Period. If SS put in a comment now and then, that's fine BUT it is NOT their worksite, it is ours. If ANY SS threatens an NSA on this Site we should ALL get very serious about even allowing SS to be here. Additionally, that a few of you actually set upon another NSA is disgusting and repugnant. This is why I keep getting PM's from Lurkers who pay but do not Post. Many of them think you Regulars are arrogant and judgemental.

all of us can evaluate it and make a business decision to stay in the business or leave.
From the day I joined NR, many posts indicated that the world is coming to an end. "you'll never make a dime as an NSA, "Don't quit your day job", "newbies will never succeed", "get out before its too late", etc.
Next week for me will be close to an all time record week in the number of closings with revenue about 7% below my weekly record. Please note I am not getting rich next week by any means. No thank you Mark Wills. No one will everget rich as an NSA. If you want to get rich, do not consider becoming an NSA. Do yourself favor and get a salaried job with all the benefits such as bonuses, health insurance, retirement plan, stock options, paid vacations, sick pay, life insurance, etc..

10 replies | I thought that I was watching a porn video. | By grapebed on 6/23/18 1:55pm
I watched a promotional video for remote closings. They showed the borrower( an actress) sitting up in bed wearing her pajamas. She was laughing and smiling while looking at her laptop. At first I thought it was a porn video.. But it was a video showing how "fun" remote loan closings can be. It was embarassing. How could a reputable company produce such trash?

10 replies | So I finally renewed my Premier Membership at NR | By Joe Ewing on 6/23/18 1:35pm
And, BOOM! Two assignments, two different Signing Services, in a row right off the bat. Neither company sent me borrower information, just a basic confirmation. Thursday at 6 and Friday at 6. Thursday a 5, I get a message that the meeting was postponed till 6 on Friday. Friday afternoon around 5 I get messages from both services informing me that both were postponed till next week. I receive half a dozen calls that I declined because of being pre booked. Admittedly, it's been a while since I allowed myself to be treated like Cattle.

3 replies | More people leaving CA in search for lower taxes, COL | By Cheryl Elliott on 6/23/18 7:48am
I had a purchase for a $1.8million for a Colorado property. The clients are selling their home in Shell Beach for a mere $3.5million. It hasn't sold yet, and actually as I cruised the neighborhood on the way to hit the beach before I met friends for dinner, I saw a lot of for sale signs. Ocean view property doesn't come cheap. Mr. Borrower is retired, they are looking for a more leisurely lifestyle, open space, to be closer to their children, lower taxes, and cost of living. The 101 corridor was a parking lot through the beach cities at 5pm. It is only two lanes here and no way to expand it. It isn't going to get any better.
This is the business I'm getting these days. I do have a refi tonight and one on Monday, but these are no longer the core of my business. Doing more commercial refis, and buyer seller packages.

This is the Senior management team at Pavaso:
http://pavaso.com/about-management-team.html
Pavaso is hemorraging money, which is probably somewhat expected. The only thing Pavaso has going for it ( and its not insignificant) is some sort of a financial relationship with Old Republic Title. ORT is a quality Title Company. First class. But as fas as the leaders at Pavaso.....losers. One of them headed up a company that went out of business. The other worked at company with $10,000,000 in annual sales. I know my corner drug store/convenience/gas station takes in $10,000,000 in annual revenue. I don't see this company lasting another 12-24 months. ORT hates to lose money and has a fiduciary responsibity to its investors. I can't see Fidelity Title or Stewart Title using an ORT product.

6 replies | Signing Central good vs bad reviews...what do you do? | By Luckydog on 6/22/18 10:38am
How many NSA's put review's in Signing Central good vs bad ones?
This came from a 1.5 star company who emails lowball offers and I sent him a screenshot of his rankings and reviews:
"If you follow the instructions you get paid. Unfortunately many Notaries post online reviews before even contacting us regarding their payment. We handle thousands of orders and have thousands of happy Notaries.
As a Notary myself, I don’t post positive reviews of companies I work for. Why would I want to tell others about companies who give me great business?
I’ll go ahead and take you off our list if you’d like."
He also says his bad reviews from non payment are because the notaries do not know how to fill out their payment forms correctly, dating back to 2013. It must be complicated. lol
Let's take guess who I am talking about? Two words, 1st word starting with an "S"
For myself, I rate the good with the bad and only if I have business with them. I like to build up my great companies when deserved. The score is everything here, and when they do good, I do good. That is my thinking..and when they are horrible, I like to be honest and warn others. Just me. Rating a company has nothing to do with competition for offers, it just makes them shine to acquire more title companies to close for.
