What they're asking you to do is to screw YOUR client. Understand the difference between client and customer. YOUR client is the one who gave you the assignment, not the party doing the settlement. That party is your customer. You have a fiduciary responsibility to your client, not to the customer.

Your client gives you an assignment, you complete that assignment, and then you're supposed to turn the results of that assignment over to a third party who's offering you a cut of the action?

Aside from the fact that this is highly unethical, what part of this scenario makes you think you will ever get work from that client again?
