Re: CLICK ON IT AND YOU MIGHT GET A VIRUS

Posting it in Leisure is not going to remove the potential threat, it's just going to move it to a different forum.

I see this as different from clicking willy-nilly on a link you get in some random email. For one thing, the people posting these links have already visited them, found them interesting, survived the experience unscathed, and are just sharing information.

We have two options here. The first is to ignore all links in forum messages, which is a perfectly reasonable approach.

The second is to have security software that protects you against malicious links. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to follow a link in a Google search and either my antivirus software or the McAfee Web Advisor browser extension has stopped me and asked if I really wanted to go there because the site was identified as a threat. I've never had that happen with a link posted by our NR community. I have had exactly one ransomware attack from clicking on a link in a Google search and ignoring the warning, but that was caught and removed by my security software.

I have no problem with people posting links here - if they seem interesting, I'll follow them. Which forum the link belongs in is a different story, but I believe the OP was a followup to a thread here on DNA testing.
