I was at a meeting in the state capitol, and meet Marcia Gardner, a member of the Vermont House Government Operations Committee. We mentioned the bill that the committee reported out on notary reform, but just in passing. We talked about a different ID related issue, the need for ID to obtain birth certificates, and how that could be difficult in some situations. That committee reported out a vital statistics bill that will require ID and a relationship to the person named in the certificate to get a certified copy of a birth certificate; the law has been signed by the governor. |
